Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro preview: Big screen entertainment

13 March 2017
Samsung has played a huge part in carving the phablet niche with its Note series. And with big screen phones growing in popularity today, going even bigger seemed a logical path to take. Enter the 6.0+ inch phones. Samsung is surely no stranger to this category - but it seems phones like the Galaxy Mega 6.3 came too early to a market that wasn't quite ready for them. Now that users have finally warmed to the idea of having the biggest possible screen in their pocket, there is no better time for Samsung to have another go at this segment. And so we have the Galaxy C9 Pro.

KT, 16 Mar 2017Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro - worst ever experience when it comes... moreyes you are totally right. The camera is real a trsash. If youre convinced by the phone and you buy it you will discover it. 1.9 aperture in the camera doesn't work at all as it is meant to work. the camera feels like a 2 mega pixel camera with aperture 2.2. Its only good when the lights are soooo good. All phones can take relatively good photos in very good lightning. But when the lights go down a little bit, just a little bit the camera becomes a mess...I don't understand how GS marena says it has good camera...

6-7 hours is not really a "really long time", it's 1/3rd of the waking day. So one needs to charge in the middle of the day if it's a particularly "heavy use" day.

I don't understand why we should accept low standards in battery life ever since removable batteries were removed from phones at large. I don't understand why this practice was/is practically defended.

Since Lithium battery technologies evolves veeery slowly, the only road towards a "day phone" (one that lasts 16 hours without charging) *is* a removable tech. Mobile chargers are too slow to charge and too impractical to carry/remember to have charged, "battery cases" make your phone too thick to be able to use.

So *really* the only way for the foreseeable future is removable tech ... the very thing OEMs removed... plunging us into the darkness of "half-day phones".

My Note 4 still performs well with Removable battery, IR blaster, FM radio and decent camera. I like to get a 6 inch or better screen on my next phone but most dont have removable battery.

It would be a good deal if I had quad screen sensor the same as the S7. For that price I buy a s7 and I have left over for a micro SD card

I honestly think it is really annoying that this mid-range Samsung phone has a full metal body, dual tone flash, 6GB of ram, 16mp front camera, fingerprint unlock without clicking the button, usb-c, and stereo speakers even though their high-end Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge doesn't!!! I want those features too, why put those only on a mid-range?? I paid $650 to get a high-end with all of the features, why give a lot to mid-range?? Ridiculous....

                                Dear GSM arena,
Opera max integration is only in india firmwares. They need it because they have slow connection. If you don't want to show app notification, you can block it by long pressing on notification.

I don't know elsewhere but in Cambodia, you can buy Huawei Mate 9 at the price of C9 Pro or get much cheaper OnePlus 3T 128 GB and Xiaomi 5s Plus 128 GB. I see no point to buy C9 Pro unless we really need Samsung brand.

Unless you reaaally need the s pen Note 5 would be a terrible alternative. It's basically the worse of all Notes so it would be great if people stopped recommending it (it's a Note only in name).

Probably the fastest Samsung from 2017 in every day performance.

It would be funny when phonebuff and the likes show this lowly mid ranger destroy S8 due to ram retention (mostly). It would be the final blow to the myth that a strong SoC is a must to a phone's performance, while in fact it's only something secondary at this point.

I expect S8 to reload background apps (once you get to the 6th-7th app) and C9 Pro to keep going. It would be a funny day indeed.
