Motorola Moto G5 preview: First look

13 April 2017
When the Moto G first launched back in 2014 it was a game changer. With a combination of compact design, great performance, good features, great battery life and a clean stock version of Android, all for $179, it offered...

This is an outrageously inaccurate review. Sunlight legibility is fine with adaptive display activated. Battery life is fine and will easily last a working day with plenty left over. This is a £170 phone that represents excellent value for money.

In my country this phone costs 263 dollars. It's cheaper buy a Moto g4 plus by 237 dollars with better performance than this phone. Shame Lenovo.

I have the Moto G4 plus and it's the worst phone I've ever bought. Unusable because of constant overheating and locking up.
I'll never buy another Moto again as their quality since Lenovo bought them is sub-standard.

[deleted post]Yeah you are right, the carrier of the phone is JIO and the phone shows signal bars. I believe only one person is doing this preview but I'm not sure.

There are several isues with the facts, for example, the original Moto G was a phone from 2013, not 2014. Also, it is not the first Moto G device with a removable battery, as the Moto G4 Play had it, in fact the exact same model (GK40) as the G5.

Moto G5 and G5 Plus should not have the same name, G5, because thay have almost nothing in common, unlike G4 and G4 Plus that had everything identical with only different camera and G4 Plus had a fingerprint scanner!
I have both G5 and G4 Plus, and the screen on G5 feels a lot worse, more plastic, even though it is Gorilla glass, it is a grease magnet and it gets too dark in almost any light! The speaker soundlevel is about three times lower than on my G4 Plus. The edges are plastic so the entire phone feels plastic/cheap, even though the middle part of the backpanel is metal. Performance is far worse than on G4, so G5 is not an upgrade from G4, while G5 Plus is a totally different more expensive midrange phone!
G5 and G5 Plus, just as G4 and G4 Plus, do not have any magnetic sensor, compass!
The ONLY improvement over my G4 Plus is the network connection, it is perfect while my G4 could not be trusted because it too often randomly dropped/lost connection!
