Moto G5 Plus preview: A closer look

22 May 2017
Last month we took a look at the Moto G5, one of the two Moto G models released this year. What we saw left us a bit unimpressed; while it was definitely a budget phone, it lacked the level of performance and no-compromise experience that the brand stood for. Today we have with us the Moto G5 Plus, evidently the more premium model. The Plus makes fewer cutbacks across the board, by having a superior set of hardware and build quality.

I got one android version update, 2 significant UI updates and many other bug fixes on my redmi note 3 pro. A nougat update and another UI update is planned. It may be late. But it is by no means bad for a phone that I spent less than 200USD on.

And motorola is owned by lenovo ( a chinese company) now and lenovo is kind of crap in the mobile tech department. Their devices lack quality, something even the new moto phones lack.

Rubbish Lenovo phone with a Moto logo on it. Seen the device and its terrible. Even the ui is aargh

Being a new phones, it's can't even match the benchmarks of xiaomi redmi note 3SD, which is two years old and cheaper. Being a Moto G user before is Very disappointing!

The author(s) should take a look on Moto's forums and see the huge issue Verizon customers are having. You can't use the phone with 4gLTE enabled. Call quality is very very bad. Motorola doesn't seem to be interested in resolving the issue.

Lenovo isn't as good on updates as Motorola was - Moto G5 Plus will apparently get only one major Android update.

Who cares really? OEMs like Vivo, Micromax, Leleco or something rules India, because anything priced low will sell here in millions.

This phone is the best phone available at around 15k INR mark, end of story. Comparing this with them Chinese OEMs who will be out of picture in no time is beyond stupid.

[deleted post]your so proud of your Motorola g plus? are you hurt when it is priced as expensive? so what if it will give software update everymonth? does it memory can support it for 1 year? maybe it can give an update 3-4per year then its crap. I will not spend my money to buy this phone. better buy a Chinese phone but can give more better hardware and performance capabilities.

A phone that is more expensive, with inferior SoC and subpar battery than lets say Le Pro 3. Who would buy this cr*p? =D

Moto G5 plus is mostly good but internal memory should have been more as even 200$ phones have started offering 64 Gb. 32 GB at 260 $ is just too low for an Android phone. Also is design is crap.

With their appalling record on software updates, I would never consider buying another Motorola phone. Lenovo are destroying the loyalty that Moto phone users have had for these phones.
