coolbeans, 28 May 2017so you called it 7 years ago. still bringing it up. cool.Only now has it become apparent that the traditional phone size (120x60mm and below) is completely dead. Only now are we calling 5.2 inch phones "small".
So yes I bring it up now, because only now my prophecy became true, so I call it *now* (basically phones have become mini tablets, " minis" is what we used to call phablets and traditional phone sizes are dead. Tablets won, we m!merely call them phones).

-) In 2017, u r st... moreIf you can't see that mi series has copied the edge series, you are blind. The edge series has characteristic s that were not presented before and the ones who copy them cannot hide it. However I don't hate Xiaomi for that, on the contrary, many times I recommended the mi5 as vfm and imany ppl got it cause I did. If the S7 edge wasn't so perfect, I would get it my self! Samsung became arrogant and they really needed such competition. I had higher expectations from Mi6, that's precisely why I am disappointed and you as a blind fan is not.
When Samsung launched the AT, it was a huge leap forward, as the arguably had the most boring flagship design. The s6 edge design was superb but it was flawed in many areas. The mi5 copied it's looks and added stellar interns, it started at 550 euros, when the S7 edge started at 750. Now mi5 costs 250euros and s7edge 475. So yes, the mi5 is value for money. And since Samsung didn't change the edge design and s6edge had pitiful battery, the mi5 really had a place, as it looked like the S7edge and we're even able to compete with it.
Huawei and one plus, even ms and soon Sony and apple will be able to upgrade on OLED screens. Xiaomi is left behind and it shows, I had the mi5 and it's display seems washed out comparing to the S7edge, yet the Oneplus3T is able to compete with it directly! Also the biggest upgrade 2016 flagships saw was the ability to draw great night shots. I was expecting xiaomi to copy and deliver this, this year. Apart from the washed out screen, my biggest concern on Chinese phones was the bezels.i love small bezels, esp on big phones, since a carry a big phone, I need a big screen to justify it. Small bezels made me go LG for a couple of years and small bezels brought me back to Samsung and made me leave Sony for good. To me it matters a lot and I never dropped a phone, esp without a case. This is the reason why I will get the S8 and also the reason that I am considering an iPhone for the first time.
I expect xiaomi to copy the small bezel design next year, it is considered a premium feature and it does needs superior technology to happen. This is the reason cheap Chinese phones can't make one, ever. AMOLED does matter for the battery and contrast, it is superior and this is why apple is adopting it and cheap Chinese phones can't have it.
The Mi6 though is not cheap, it's a flagship!! I do expect more from it, maybe it will drop it's value sooner than the S8, naturally, as it inferior and this is it's only choice if they want to sell. I am dissatisfied not because Xiaomi is a Chinese company, but because they made cheap Chinese company choices on their mainstream flagship! Hopefully mi mix2 will come true!

In smartphone business nowadays, since 99.9 percent smartphones are in the form of full touchscreen candybar, similar design, or design based on rival's brand is normal. Even those brand whom u said got their designed copied, also did the same thing, so what u r trying to saying here could be stated in one sentence: FANBOY'S HYPOCRISY.
-) AFAIK, Xiaomi's "Mi" sub-brand NEVER use cheap LCD panel. Since Mi 4, they use JDI / Sharp-made LCD panel which is BY NO MEANS NOT CHEAP. AMOLED panel is expensive & short-lived, why bother buying something which could tarnished their brand reputation?
Whatever they do, if it's CHINESE company, u'll justify any excuse to SLANDER them even if it is childish like this one "IPS LCD vs. AMOLED" BS.
-) Your reasonning why they keep IR but not SD card is PURE BULLSHIT HATERS' OPINION.
Xiaomi is, like Hisense, also make home appliance, like TV, AC, etc, which use IR for remote controlling. Adding IR blaster into their smartphone is one of the indirect advertisement to the user which say "we also made home appliances like LG & Samsung, so we would be happy if u could buy them too".
For SD card slot inavailability, Xiaomi, since Mi2 have stated that they WOULD NOT add SD card slot into their main "Mi" subbrand (Mi 4s & Mi Max was exception since both of them are not the main "Mi" subbrand, aka "variant" series, since the main "Mi" at that time are Mi4 & Mi5). The reason for the SD card slot inavailability is the same with Google's & Apple's, that is, ALL of them wants user to use cloud more, which in turn, generate more money for the company from the monthly subscription (I dunno if Xiaomi do have paid cloud service like Google or Apple, though).
FYI, 3.5mm jack inavailability hinted to be a "test the water" action by Xiaomi. IF the reaction was positive, they will continue with USB type-C from now on (that is, if they want to make their flagship more waterproof), but if the reaction was negative, I believe they will add 3.5mm jack again for the next flagship, since losing potential buyers as well as loyal customers are the least Xiaomi would hope.
-) "It favors speakers overs headsets in 2017" is the DUMBEST statement EVER said by HATERS.
BETTER sounding speaker with good clarity & loud sound is ALWAYS what critics' pointed out when reviewed EVERY smartphone. A good speaker means they equipped the phone with the best available speaker for that price, added with a good DAC will make the phone to be one of the budget audiophile's most wanted gadget.
For me, as long as I got a converter to use my fav headphone/earphone with 3.5mm jack, I could live with Mi6.

Mi5 success was NEVER caused by only ONE VARIABLE. Its small screen, its small form factor, its lightweight, its specs, & its price tag is ONLY several points of MANY reasons why people buy Mi5.

FIRST, DON'T BUY MOST CHINESE PHONE IF U'R FROM EUROPE. Lack of Band 20 is "indirect" WARNING that XIAOMI'S PHONES NEVER INTENDED TO BE SOLD TO EUROPE.
SECOND, BUY XIAOMI'S PHONE FROM ALI EXPRESS, NOT EUROPE WAREHOUSE, because like u said, it'll make u pay almost double the "recommended" price of Mi6.
THIRD, DON'T BUY BEFORE THREE MONTHS AFTER DATE OF RELEASE.

Occasionally they may do like with note 2 global edition . Ind Indo China region it's gonna cost around 30k (in case Xiaomi care for India) which is about half of what s8 costs here.
2 bezelless is overrated. Enjoy if it falls without case. Nonetheless pretty good phone s8 is
3 I'm against removal of 3.5 mm jack but I don't think everyone is gonna complain since it costs half and has awesome battery life unlike courage stuff other company is doing

Typical Chinese stuff. Last year's exterior, but this year's Chip. A cheap LCD panel, though wise enough to keep it on 1080p. IR because some ppl need it, but not SD card and 3.5mm jack that everybody needs it. They can afford gorilla Glass 5, yet they cant afford an AMOLED screen, where even an 80$ Lumia can. It favors speakers overs headsets in 2017, just because Apple wanted to maximize their profits and force everyone buy their new expensive headsets. Well Apple makes money from this, but Xiaomi will surely lose them! That's what happens when you blindly copy others. Mi 5 was successful because Samsung don't change the exterior, so the 2015 S6 body, xiaomi copied was relevant in 2016, but this year, is the mini bezel year, both Samsung and LG have mini bezels and soon Apple too, so xiaomi and the rest of the big bezel beasts are now absolete. And in their quest to blindly copy Apple and introduce even the smaller useless detail, the phone now costs 650$ in Europe, where the S7, they were trying to reproduce, sells at 450$ and it has an AMOLED screen, a camera able to shoot at night time, SD card slot, waterproofness and 3.5 jack. Even the S8 is now down to 650$ which ads a night selfie, bigger screen on the same body, the new design that make it stand out and still holds the SD card and even includes a 100$ headset!
Maybe next year xiaomi, when you copy the S8 and chances are the S9 will have the same design, you will remain relevant...

Of course xiaomi gives hi performance, because it has smaller resolution. Noticed this when you were playing game on a pc, higher resolution made your game frame rate lower.

BTW I had called it back in 2010 (w iPad's release), "that's the natural progression, people would love the tablets and forget the phones".
Only twist is that we're still calling them phones, but increasingly they have search mini tablet size (basically a pocketable tablet), phone calls is a strong minority of their function, thumb use has almost gone the way of the dodo (the primary way to control cordless phones since the 1980s) and they're increasingly not pocketable (another attribute of " cordless phones").
The age of the tablet is here. Basically why traditional tablets are dying. Mini tablets have eaten their lunch.

well,514$ price,480$+34$ shipping in EU warehouse,so no customs fees no VAT,not exactly cheap by any standards,possibly best bang for your buck right now..one+5 comes this sommer but will be way over 500$ surely..but it looks great,killer performance and finally decent camera..only a slight problem finding
