Sony Xperia L1 review: Level one

23 June 2017
The Xperia L1 marks Sony's return to the still growing and highly-competitive entry-level market. Putting together a good smartphone for beginners can often turn out to be an even tougher task than designing a flagship. Maybe that's why Sony is retiring its E-series and introducing a new contender in the Xperia L1.

I must say this entry level is the best non-chinese brand bang for your buck phone. Photos look good.

        I see some haters here!

Used to have a Sony M4 Aqua, worked properly but then i dropped it and the seams where not intact anymore. Over time it got water damage and the Wifi stopped working.
I used the phone for two years, it's my own fault it stopped working.

My girl got the same phone ( we both got the same deal at that time ) she still enjoys the device. The screen is cracked but u guessed it, she dropped it.

At this point i'm using my old Sony Xperia S.
This phone is 4/5 years old and runs perfect.

I'm waiting for the Nokia 6 because i think this is the best buy for the money.

Congrats, now I'd say try your luck if you win the jackpot. You must have some supernaturally good luck if your Sony's actually lasts that long. Hard to trust your word for those, though.

I was the bigest fan of Sony mobile devices since I was a little child, because of their Walkman music player and their young target audience etc.
But I must say they've been very disappointiing lately. The design of the smartphones is way behind the modern devices. I'm still using Sony today, but I'm concidering to leave them as a fan.

[deleted post]I cant' help but agree with this. No matter how you try to explain, no understanding. :( I also agree with the worst customer service, getting Sony repaired in Finland is not a nice experience. We sold the M4 for parts to some local Sony-guy, he needed some parts for his own M4 (motherboard or rear camera). 250 euros paid for that phone and after a year the rear camera unit has to be pressed back into the body or the camera wouldn't work.

xperia M series = Worst quality with so many problems in many countries.

sony = worst customer service in the world.

My first 5.5" had a 720 P resolution, had to give it away and get one with 1080p.
720p is fine on a 5" or even 5.2" though.

Appreciate Sony for making USB C as their port of choice across their range!!

Because I've never ever been a brand-fanboy, I don't care about that stuff. So far I have owned one Sony in the past (k610i, which also had horrible build-quality, needed duct tape after a year of usage...) and there are no valid reasons for me personally to consider their phones over others. As I've said a million times, I'd happily buy a Sony-TV and most likely will, as those are really damn good, so no reasons to avoid them. :)
