Android 8.0 Oreo review: The little things

04 September 2017
Twelve months have passed since the introduction of Android 7.0 Nougat, and you know what that means - a new, even sweeter release of Google’s mobile operating system is out. This year with Oreo we’re treated to the second ever co-branding exercise for an Android version, following in the footsteps of KitKat from a while back...

I would love to be able to do the following without the need of root access :
- Change resolution
- Change DPI
- Change fonts
- BLACK theme (i HATE the white theme) (at least add a night mode)
- Change the color of the status bar
- In Buzz Launcher you can set gifs as icons. When will the stock Android be able to do that??

Carol, 05 Sep 2017Those who do not want crappware and modified os device. :).It can be crapware for you but for people like me, it's highly useful. Even Samsung copied a MiUi feature known as "Dual apps" where you can create two copies of a single app

Looks Very Much Like Stock Android

so android got nothing new just some upgrade old thing and people made fun of other os that late using it ?

              Dots are gimmick.

My windows phone shows exact number of notifications instead dots (i.e missed calls, messaages, mails etc) and my previous phone (Sony Xperia) did the same.

Shame on you google for not understanding simple things.

Android With Good Ui Layers Work Best. Those Are Both Fast And Powerful.Im Bored After Using The Stock.Thinkin Why Not Get A Huwaei Or Samsung Now ? I Realy Liked The J7 Max's Interface

Used to use Lilli pad and PIP on YouTube for free and Droid 8.0 makes you pay for YouTube Red now. Talk about money hungry.

What's the point? Going aong with osx?

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2017Samsung, LG, HTC, Xiaomi, Huawei and even Lenovo's launcher... moreSo never updating the software is your solution? Then complain that iPhone users get five years of software updates when Android users barely get two.

I use both stock and modified Android. Stock is the way to go for better future proofing and less lag as time goes on...

How bout making android usable in less demanding processer. You need 3gb ram these days to use Android smoothly. Focus more on what the fans want.

New features are being added in android with each update. Meanwhile as an iPhone user I am still trying to figure out how to download more than 100 mb apps on mobile data.

Everyone here's debating the technical aspects of Oreo and I'm just like "Why the Emojis Google?! They were innocent :'( ".

Background execution limits will make real multitasking impossible, freezing everything that is not in foreground! Why the need for 4 or more Gb RAM when Oreo freeze everything in background? On ICS on my Galaxy S2 I could do real multitasking with nothing being frozen in the background, so Android get worse with every update even though the hardware today easily could handle real multitasking!
