It's a classic grade phone. WHY would I need solar protection or protection from falling from the height of 6ft?! For that I can just grab an S9 active.
and fyi the S9 family comes with IP68 protection.

Your article begins with an intruiging line:
"but we are surely heading towards a new chapter in the smartphone photography."

              soon you reveal
"Samsung has upgraded the camera a lot since the S8, but it's still 12MP and it's still just one."

so aside from some extra high speed stuff (which isn't that crash hot really) you can pay probably a thousand buck for a phone which will still be fragile and still be an invasive spy on what you do and really do very little more in actual stuff that actual users seem to find important.

I remind you of your own posts about mobile phone sales dropping ... which supports the view of a plateau over the last few years. Because really, what's actually changed since the OnePlus 3?

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2018Galaxy S9 is nowhere neart to a complete smartphone. The... moreUhm. let me remind something...
                1. the REMOVABLE BATTERY will not return. ever.
                2. FM Radio is a really awesome feature, but it needs a 3.5mm jack. which is a feature that SADLY disappears... (there were devices that used the charge port inb4 the smartphone arc. and that was annoying.)
                3. BAHAHAHAHAHA IR blaster is a must? not a lot of devices had it. I know that the IR blaster can be used as remote for the AC, the TV and everything that has an IR reciever. but at most 5% of the devices had it at it's most prosperous arc.
                4. just an aesthetic appearance. a phone can be curved, and can be flat.
I am not supporting BYOD (Build your own device) but if you want everything. build one.
                How? Figure yourself.

The... moreMany are using music streaming nowadays, so FM Radio, though handy, it's not a must have feature. IR Blaster and Flat Screen makes a smartphone complete? Really? Removable battery? Even low range phones also started to use in-built batteries. It's time for you guys to move on.

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2018What's the point of F/2.4 aperture? That's useless.Daylight images taking. the F/1.5 is WAY too bright for daylight shots. and images looks oversaturated and burnt.

The most complete smartphone has these most important features:
                      - removable battery
                      - FM Radio
                      - IR blaster
                      - flat screen

The only good thing in S9 is the camera and the CPU. That's all.

I highly doubt mali can outgame adreno. Benchmarks maybe but real world gaming no way.

TN1, 26 Feb 2018You cannot listen to stereo on the Note8? Use earphones. OM... moreI'll explain what I meant: USUALLY. 95% of the time. I DO use headphones and earphones to enjoy stereo. I know my note 8 is also water resistant so I use it as music player in my shower too... and that's the 5% I CAN'T have stereo fun. (have you ever seen ANYONE showering with earphones and headphones?)
Point two; as for my CLAIM being the S-PEN called gimmick. FOR MY uses. I don't see any need in one. but that doesn't mean it's COMPLETELY useless. I agree with your claim that the built in pen should be more mandatory. but I MYSELF. don't need it.
and lastly the variable aperture: HELL F&$@ing YESS!!! I want the freedom of choosing exactly what aperture to use in each scenery. before smartphone cameras were good, I carried a camera that had the option. (I remember it was Canon) I enjoyed every moment of changing the aperture because it made the pictures PERFECT. not too dim, not too bright, exactly at the right amount of exposure. I love to take photos. (NOT SELFIES, hate that kind.) and that ability is a must for me.
You can still disagree with my reasoning. but I revealed it.
                          Peace!

There is still a long way to go in 2018. Don't be surprised that makers like Huawei may outshine S9 specs / features especially with the camera department, yet with a lower price tag. I would suggest to hold your purchase for the S9 now, and wait for other makers to prove themselves first.

And this is the list that I manage to put out even before the S9 is officially release. You can bet that there will be many more hidden and exciting features that are yet to be seen. As of right now, the Galaxy S9 is THE most complete smartphone.

With all of these features, $719 doesn't seem overpriced to me.
