Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact hands-on review

Unlike many of its big-brand competitors, Sony didn't shy away from major announcements at MWC 2018. In fact, it took the wrappers of a shiny new pair of flagships, that boldly marry new design concepts with incremental hardware updates.

    Hipsters like soaps. Didnt like monolith boxes.
    So Sony gave them soap, all the way.
    Its a fashion product now.
    And they, of course, like it now....much.
    And I agree, its a quite good looking powerful soap.
    Back is bending light into X shape now.
    And Im pretty sure space is not wasted inside there, as on margin its only 6mm thick, and going to 11 mm center, with only slides not curves.
    It is no easy task to enginner insides of this soap thing, believe me.

                    2014- 146 x 72mm. 7.3mm thick. 3100mah battery.
                    2018- 153 x 72mm. 11.1mm thick. 3180mah battery.
                    Worth dumbed down less quality design.... Yup. That's what people asked for???

                                      PeterThePanda, 03 Mar 2018Yes, they're on a league of their own for being overpriced ... moreI am not aware of any 130x65 phone that carries SD835 with 4K video recording and 2700mAh battery capabilities for starters. No matter the thickness.

                                      iPhone SE is more compact but it carries smaller display and a lot smaller battery. iPhone 8 is almost a centimeter taller, a bit wider for same size display and smaller battery. No Android phone have comparable specs to XZ1 Compact.

                                      XZ2 thickness is due to "new design" language that is not well suited for compact. It actually has a thinner frame but the bubbly back effect takes it over 10mm. And it still doesn't look good as XZ2 cause XZ2 has more fluid tension of rounding on the back (much better than U11+) but XZ2 compact looks like usual fillet rounding. And on top of that it has 2:1 display which does nothing for Compact, it would benefit from a bit wider screen instead of taller, and thus why it grew in height.

                                        This design change has nothing to do with heat managment as it was already solved a year ago.

                                        This design is purely to satisfy the hipster reviewers tastes, and to increase sales, on account of Xperia fan taste. And maybe DVS size itself has sth to do with it.

                                        Look up hands on reviews, every darn reviewer out there likes it now, including the mericans.
