AnonD-739779, 24 Mar 2018Those are not "muted" colors, those are the "right" colors,... moreiPhones 8, 8 plus and X all have a pinkish tone to their photos comparing them side by side to the photos taken with my 7,6s, 6 and even my iPod Touch 6 gen has better color accuracy, especially when it comes to skin tones. I do not like their new cameras they are too pink and process skin tones in an off way.

Those are not "muted" colors, those are the "right" colors, iphone takes photos as close to as real life when it comes to color accuracy. Samsung phones always take oversaturated photos.

You can always give a photo a bit more vibrance or contrast when youre uploading to instagram, since phones own editing software wont be enough already, but you cannot true oversaturated colors, and if you are taking photos of that important things, maybe relevant to your job and you need accurate colors your best bet is iphones camera.

Its true samsungs oversaturated photos are easy to trick general consumers, who just doesnt care about accuracy or anything. And its clear iphones camera needs better noise cleaning optimisation. But more importantly, smartphone producers should decide to use even bigger sensors already, for the next big step. Right now, smartphone cameras are limited with these tiny sensors imo.

"One will prefer the more muted colors of the iPhone's images, but that's the same person who likes to post-process every photo they take on their smartphone."
No, the iPhone 7/8/X have muted colors due to the completely overused Lightroom-like clarity effect which destroys color detail. The color information is lost, you can't get back the color information, it's lost.

The video comparison would have been much more accurate if the footage had been recorderd fairly, as they were filmed at different times of the year !!! come on GSMARENA!!! The grass and the trees on the iphone are more vibrant because it looks like it was filmed in Summer / Autumn .. Whilst the Samsung footage looks like it was flmed in Winter / Spring.
If you are going to do a fair comparison at least record the footage at the same time ;-)

Funny thing is the fact this is never a con when PA reviews the iphones.

Since iPhones record sound really poor ... and they even capture sound just in mono, I don't see a posibility of an iPhone winning any video capture category.
Sound is literaly one half of the captured video - sound + image = video.

i have s9+ and i must admit that the video stabilization is just perfect... It's like you are riding on rails when you are walking...
                    just watch samples yourself.

The saturated ones or the dull ones? Most people prefer vivid colours. If you prefer dull colours, you are free to use other brands or just use a proper camera.

If you wan to compare phone camera pictures it is no use of campaing them to each others. You need hight quality system camera and then compare those to the standard aka system camera. Witch one gets nearest!

Samsung use a lot modifications to its pictures. They may look nice but quite often They Are far From reality. Vivid colors make the cloud day look much brighter and colorfull than They really were. But the purpose of camera is to reproduce the reality as well a possible.

What I would like to see in these shootouts is selfies taken in actual LOW LIGHT conditions, e.g. indoors with no windows wide open and without ample light. Every time I see these reviews, the "low light" selfies are taken in places that have ample lighting.

What I like about iPhone's camera is that the sky and clouds always look full, deep, vibrant or whatever you wanna call it haha. When you compare the daylight pics, the one with the snail (3/30 and 6/30) and with the modern office building (20/30 and 26/30) you can see how much better the sky and clouds look on the iPhone. I have an iPhone 8 and I really enjoy taking daylight outdoor pics because of that. With the iPhone 8 and X Apple also drastically improved low light photography so I'm very happy with that too :)
