29 March 2018
Oppo just announced its R15 flagship duo, which not only represents the latest and greatest from the world's fifth largest manufacturer, but also comes to show what to expect from OnePlus and Vivo - the other two in BBK Electronics' smartphone trifecta.

At this price Huawei Mate 10 or Galaxy S8 all the way. Or cheaper better options like Honor View 10, Mi Mix 2, 5T, etc. Instead of offer better phones they fool people with wasting the money in actors and marketing tricks. But well maybe that's more profitable for them and people take the bait and pay more for less.

The micro-USB 2.0 connector today at that price is ridiculous.

I think you should publish more GPU test...
Your conclusion based on a single test is probably false...

For exemple 3D part of AnTuTu gives about 29000pts to P60 and 30000 to S660!

Oh, so only upgrading the chipset, the secondary rear camera from 5MP to 20MP and downgrading the battery a little, and OPPO made a "Pro" variant? At least upgrade the display to QHD and add a little more battery, then it will live up to its "Pro" variant better am I right?

Where are gfx-bench, 3dmark? Why gsmarena forget to use them?

Saying Adreno 512 is twice better than G72mp3 is a lie!
Helio P23 with G71mp2 is already about a half of Snapdragon 660
With Helio P60 and G72mp3 (one more core, 20% better coreperformances), you can expect maybe 15 or 20% less than 660.
And gives probably better performances on modern effects like Tesselation.
Adding in-game CPU usage, you will probably be unable to see any difference.

Mediatek Helio P60 phones will be great choice for my sister, brother, mom, dad, basically everyone in my family except me, and most of my friends who never open this website or any tech forum... because they never run custom rom, play games, or care about android updates... Well, its cheaper and have 12nm fab process

Also it should be more efficient if you don't play games due to improved 12nm. Power usage of 12nm is supposed to be near 10nm just density not as good.

I considered buying the R15 pro, but I can get the huawei mate 10 pro for the same price, or 5t for even less. I don't understand their logic. The design is great and they managed to fit a 6.3 inch display in the same body as the other two phones I mentioned, but that's all they have going for it.

DroidBoye, 31 Mar 2018Based on their SoC MTK Helio P60 and SD660, these phones ar... moreIt's the selfie expert tagline that draws people to them. A high megapixel front cam would impress them. As long as it is an 8 MP or more, then they're impressed. Hell even 3GB ram + 32 GB would even impress the people in my country. Got a lot of people pushing me to buy Oppo cause it's so popular nowadays abd I would just say that heck I would. I'd rather wait for better ones to come out than buy an Oppo, Vivo or One Plus.

Based on their SoC MTK Helio P60 and SD660, these phones are in midrange territory but then the price... 510EUR for the Pro and 460EUR for the non-Pro, ridiculous. You can buy SD845 Oneplus 6 (500EUR) or even the previous Oneplus 5T (500EUR) with SD835 would be a much better choice. Why does Oppo release these and why would people buy these crap? It's like Oppo thinks that their customers were dumb AF or are they?

Is there a solid custom ROM community to be expected for these 2?

Anonymous, 30 Mar 2018so the p60 is pretty identical to s660 not bad , thing is 6... moreThe P60 performance is nowhere near the S660, its only a half of the GPU performance and not only that it loses from A512 it also loses from old A510 and A509.
Compared to the S636 it loses again all do it has a minor CPU advantage thanks to higher clocks & an disadvantage regarding GPU it will be significantly less power efficient.

[deleted post]What do you think of the posted examples in the hands-on? is bad quality for the oneplus 6? GSMarena don't seem to have any opinion in the matter.

Is preferred buy a phone with a Snapdragon SoC that has better GPU and, if possible, a popular model that is supported by the developer community, there are a lot of any price, is a matter of choose well.

About Oppo, well, expensive as usual. Probably those cameras will used in the OP 6 too. I don't like too their video recording. But I don't care, i'm not going to buy any phone with notch and less from One Plus after watch their aptitude and lies.

What is laughable is that these are phones of 460 - 510 euros with micro-USB 2.0 practically in April of 2018. Lol

The R15 Pro has the best auxiliary cam in the market, as good as the main, you can't deny that hahahaha. So much camera that there's no money for a USB-C it seems...

The GPU of the Snapdragon is a lot better. Plus Mediatek never release their source code and drivers so you can update those phones with custom ROMs, when Oppo close the updates forget it.

The video at 4K is too laggy. Can't their software handle it? Bad optimization? For a phone that cost 510 euros that is unacceptable. The one with P60 cost 460 euros the difference is low, the Pro is a better option but still too expensive, typical of Oppo.

Impressed by the mtk helio p60.Powerfull and efficient.
