Nokia 8110 4G review

06 August 2018
Ah, the memories. Even in its silly, banana-yellow attire, the new Nokia 8110 4G just seems to tickle the nostalgia bone the right way. After the wave of retro-enthusiasm, sparked by the Nokia 3310 (2017), HMD decided to sink its teeth into the Nokia resurrection game even further. Out came the peculiar curved slider that recently landed in the office for review.

I bought it for my grandpa after his Nokia 3310 keypad went faulty.

Unlike that model, you cant change the font here and it's much smaller, especially in the callbook.

I would highly advise against buying it for an eldery person, i really dont know why the couldnt implement this setting.

My grandpa used Nokias all his life, but after the dissapointment with the 3310 build quality and now this, i will buy him another brand.

Why aren't you listing HotSpot connectivity as a plus? That's a massive game changer. Imagine running the 8110 as a hotspot for a phone/tablet running Windows 10 x86. That alone turns this phone's objective worth at least 200$.

I am using Nokia Phones from 1999, Currently using Nokia C5 (S60), Seriously I am big fan of Symbian, why Nokia not re-launch keypad phones with Symbian S60 & S80 Series in mid range phones. My whole group are very excited for Nokia's feature (Keypad) Phone with Symbian for calling usage. Main benefit of Symbian is hazel free Unlimited Contacts & upto 30days call log.

For Long days I have searched a feature/basic phone but it will have wifi/hotspot so that I can use internet into my personal computer because I dont like smart phone where no key present for typing. At last I found Nokia8110 and happy for that. Other hand operating system is slow and have shortcut key for phonebook. However respectively NOKIA will develop this device to keep in mind of like such kind of user. We are using phone for simple voice communication , sms and PC internet just. We are happy to get it.

Just curious about the picture no 3 in page 2. What type of the nokia in the middle (between 8110 4g and 8800 sirocco)?

mrfone, 09 Aug 2018The predecessor didn't have a spring action slider either. ... moreYup. Also note that though the spring mechanism is a nice gimmick, it is actually not very practical to fumble for a tiny release key, rather than just puling the slide down with your thumb when you grab the phone to answer a call - especially during night.

And the key would need to be rather tiny, not to risk accidentally activating it in the pocket, and/or when pulling the phone from the pocket...
