Samsung Galaxy Note9 hands-on review

09 August 2018
The latest UNPACKED event is over and the Samsung Galaxy Note9 is now official. It wasn't too hard to guess the next Galaxy Note though - it's a bigger Galaxy S9+ with an S-Pen. It employs every cutting-edge technology Samsung has right now and builds on the legacy that once sparked the phablet revolution.

And then you have to choose between size or tech or edges or tech when you did.
Either you get the huge one... Or you lack features. Or you get the edge or you lack features. Not cool

Im visiting back home in the USA and will buy the Note 9 while here. Does anyone know if when I go back to Spain (where I live) the phone will have full functionality/no problems with my service provider?

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2018You have a point but are very misguided and wrong in it. Y... moreAre you kidding me? Some serious R&D for the Note9? They used the same platform as the S9+ and the only thing that is really new is the capacitor charged S-Pen and the larger screen . Ontop of that they're still running QC 2.0, you can't call that cutting edge technology. Even then Samsung will never let the Note9 be better than their flagship money maker the S9 and plus model.

Had they added QC 3.0 or better which was available tech on my 2 year old HTC10 and upped their screen resolution then they'd have a real winner. All these flagships are slacking on features and tech and that's why I'm not looking forward to upgrading now. They're always missing some key features that another phone has and then that phone that has those features are missing something else. The phone market is garbage right now releasing a flagship every year with barely any discernible upgrades. Not to mention every flagship here will be outdated by 5G next year causing you to buy yet another phone just for 5G.

Ahhh.... now Iam so confused if I should wait for iphone x plus or go ahead and book note 9. Samsung Germany offers a 15% discount for preorders. so 850 EUR for 6/128GB seems not so bad. As I am also looking for a smart watch, the galaxy watch with free dual wireless charger and leather strap seems a good deal. Just worried if Iphone X plus is not so interesting, I might miss the Preorder goodies from Samsung. Any advice guys?

REVIEW TEST REQUEST: Can you guys please test whether the spen can be connected to other devices and have the button act as a remote for them as well? (Like the 1-button earphones that can skip tracks, etc)?
                    Thanks

Lucifer, 13 Aug 2018probably one of the best smartphone but as we humans are gr... moreIt can be the best device ever, if it is not pocketable it is not a smartphone. This is a mini tablet and all because fanboys wouldn't bear a tiny little notch which would make the device up to 1cm shorter (and thus pocketable)... Pfft fanboys, not the first nor the last device they destroy?

Qamar, 15 Aug 2018Samsung wake up ... !!! Things are slippinig out from you... moreAnd yes one plus is cheaper. For a multitude of reasons. The device is not overall as cutting edge in hardware or software, doesn't have as expensive accessories, doesn't cost as much in time or money for development, parts, software, companies and employees etc etc etc.
And it's easier to buy parts off others who have to make develop them and sell them at a better cut.
Though again Samsung could definitely be a little cheaper. And base model should have 8gb of ram in fairness.

Plus you have to consider carrier promos and trade in too

Yes it's expensive. Over priced. But so is everything else. And while the cost needs to come down if you take in everything from research and development, hardware, software, time and money put into the company and device, and even accessories then even cheeper devices from Google, LG, and similar priced from Sony and Apple are actually more over priced.

But it's still too expensive yes.

Wait for the new version of Note 10 because the Samsung policy every two years introduces a new device with new technology and attractive design...😎

Qamar, 15 Aug 2018Samsung wake up ... !!! Things are slippinig out from you... moreHi ... First Samsung does not compare Apple company because it is much better than it provides the screens Oulid for Apple phones and a lot of companies and secondly this policy Samsung every two years put a device with new technology and design as it did in the S8 ..😊

                                  Samsung wake up ... !!!
Things are slippinig out from your hands now. You are doing same mistake which Apple did in years back ...... you need to give premium mobile phones to customers at reasonable prices.

Whats new in Note 9 and just look at its price.

OnePlus is doing that at the moment !!!

Already pre-ordered mine. One thing though - the copper doesn't seem to be available here, and neither is the lavender. Three distinct stores/operators offer the GN9 and all of them list only blue and black.

Have a decaying GN3 and welcome the new design (although all-glass is making me a bit nervous :) )
