Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL hands-on review

9 Oct 2018
It's Fall 2018 and Google is the third big-name company to unveil its flagship phones to the public, after Apple’s pair of XS’ and LG’s V40 ThinQ. We cannot act surprised with Google’s Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL but we’re sure excited nonetheless. And we cannot pretend to like them equally either - the Pixel 3 XL, its unseemly notch...

They seem to shift the selfie cam sensor to a 1/4 type. Looks like it has only 1.12 micron pixels now

Only 4GB of RAM? This is gonna be an epic fail for it's price, where you many flagship phones have 6/8GB of RAM already. If I wanted a flagship phone with only 4GB of RAM in 2018, I might as well get an iPhone Xs. So guess the Pixel 3 is out of my choices for my next phone.

Wow, I havent been this excited on a pixel phone since nexus 5! Looking forward to how the camera performs! Pixel 3 XL is way too big a device to use one handed & that ugly notch, so definitely going for the Pixel 3

Seriously one of the best phones from android in a while

I honestly want to know what the cost of this device will be, like the build cost.

Knowing their profit margin on this would be ideal and should yield an impressive amount. Possibly more than Apple.

larger screen with a battery under 3500 mAh and a processor that is not the newest, one camera on each side, no expandable storage, fingerprint on the back, big bezels and notch, nothing innovative there. This is a 2016-17 phone, released a year or two later. It is very disappointing

Google has to step up the game and not simply rely on being first in having the new Android.

"The Pixel 3 and 3 XL also feel distinct in a sea of lookalike phones."

                      The jokes write themselves...

Just like XZ3, Pixel 3 has this usb power delivery.
What's the difference between this and Qualcomm's QC?

                        Thanks !!!!

That's got to be the most disappointing announcement of the year.
I am not even disappointed about the price or the notch. I was expecting those.

What I did not expect was for them not to have any new relevant feature whatsoever.

And NO, software feature don't count because they could simply update the older phones to use the same algorithms, instead of restring them artificially.

I was expecting much more, especially in the camera department.
Google image stacking is great, but if it produces such great results with that nowadays average flagship sensor, just imagine what could it be capable off with a bigger better sensor like Huawei used.

Also, if you are going to put such a big notch, why not at least take good use of that face for some fancy tech like Apple did with face id.

They simply don't care about innovating at all. All they care about is maximizing every penny they get off that vanilla flagship.

i thought that notch was a joke and final design would be different.. this years most ugly phone ??!

128 Gb non expandable storage??? Are you kidding Google??? Failed! Note 9 is the king!

I'd get the small Pixel 3 if I could, it's absolutely perfect except the battery. I don't see what's so ugly about the bezels anyway.

in my opinion they did the right things.
you don`t need 5 cameras on the back.
finger print scaner is best.no wierd face unlock.but in display will be the norm.we see if one plus implementation is good.
with all that in mind, you can get better deals on android.
i think google just want to have a product to stay relevant in the market.they know that they wont sell that much since the competition on android is sky high.

The worst thing is that being so expensive does not even incorporate new features such as the under the screen fingerprint sensor, the infrared facial recognition that works with low light, there is no full screen so or large bezels or a super ugly big notch.

Why underclock the SoC instead of put a bigger battery like Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi, etc? Oh what they don't forget is increase the price, that is a premise, by default, in the Apple style.

Aside that, how ugly! Not even with a screen protector could you hide such ugliness. And the back is bulgar.
