Motorola Moto G7 review

15 February 2019
Seven generations into it, the Moto G is now a whole four-player lineup instead of just one phone like it was in the good old days. Here we’ll focus on the namesake of the 2019 roster – the Moto G7 proper, to see if it still has some of that great value the original was famous for.

My partner has had this phone for about two years and at some point it was updated from Android 9 to 10. We believe that before the upgrade it was possible to select 4g calling but now this option doesn't appear on the menu.
This was not a problem till a couple of weeks ago when the 3g service was switched off (on 3 network) but now it can't make or receive calls. Has anyone else had this problem? Everything else works including internet access over 4g

Had mine for 2 weeks. Battery life is excellent and charges very quickly. I use Android Auto and in my 20 minute drive the car has recharged the phone to 100% at the end of the day! My old Sony M5 wouldn't have charged up at all in that time. Everything works very well and its great having 64gig in the phone for podcasts etc on board and you have your SD card for videos, music and images. Really a great phone for the money, streets ahead of my Sony M5which cost me $200 more 2 years ago. Phone updated to Android 9 on startup and I have 2 sim slots, NFC for Google Pay and a Radio built in.

                    Excellent and informative review!

How ridiculous to make a better phone and then remove the front camera flash, feature which which is so great with the E5 plus , this makes no sense .So we go back to handing our phones to strangers again to take decent photos of our to selves.

Can you guys please include Moto G6 numbers in comparisons....

It makes it way easier so that I don't have to do the research myself.

The whole point is to show iterative improvements over last gen...otherwise I have no clue how well the G7 does to the G6 in performance.

"For your money, you'd be getting a 6.2-inch display, and to be fair that's 70-odd percent more screen area that the Moto G - on that metric alone, you could say the price increase is justified. It's a tall screen too, complete with rounded corners, waterdrop notch and minimal bezels, so it's perfectly in sync with the times."
4.5 to 5.0 inch is great for a one hand phone. The 6.2 inch Phablet formfactor makes it worse not better for the price. The tall screen is there because they now they can boast that they have 6.2 inch. If you are looking at the usable space it is a 5.8 inch phone.
Yes the tall screen, rounded corners and notch are a sign of the times: if it looks good on the poster we use it. Fuck usability.
