Sony Xperia L3 review

11 June 2019
Sony launched four smartphones at the last MWC in Barcelona, but it was easy to miss the cheapest of the quartet - the Xperia L3. The Xperia 1 had the 4K buzzword, the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus with 21:9 wide screens retired the XA midranges, and then came the L3's fifteen seconds of fame. Well, today we are giving it way more than that.

Soapy, 12 Jun 2019"bezels are not functionality nor features" True, in mos... moreWe are on the same side... What I was trying to say is, the presence or absense of Bezels(Bezels or Bezeless) should not be considered in rating a phone.
Especially when we all clearly see the phone makes good of actual usable features for its price range.

I think GSMA is trying to pull a stunt here, where they make fans complain about the rating so they'll increase it later to justify the reduction of Xperia 1 ratings.

"bezels are not functionality nor features"

True, in most phones these days they see it as an aesthetic quality.

But let me point out the "use" for bezels. That physical surface area next to the screen is where I put my fingers on when holding the phone. Much like the two long bumps found on gaming controllers (downward, one left and one right), except this is smaller so it can fit into pockets.

Daany, 12 Jun 2019What's with this rating? There is nothing wrong with this d... moreYes the rating is too low, and I am speaking as someone who is very critical of Sony phones. 3.2 would be a more reasonable score.

What's with this rating? There is nothing wrong with this device at that price range.

        I thought we judge with
Display, performance, battery life, camera, audio, sofware, build quality... I mean actual things we use on a phone according to price.

Bezels are not funtionality nor feature.

This el-cheapo smartphone has many things I like. I like how THICC those bezels are, aw yeah. And that main camera placement at the corner. Side mounted FPS much preferred location beside on the front, though I don't know why Sony won't put the power button together with it anymore. Expandable memory (by microSD card slot). USB Type C. 3.5mm jack.

I wish for those *qualities* mentioned above. I wish someone would make one with all of those, with some high end flagship-grade SoC (that presumably comes with all the goodies it capable of like fastest modem and wifi, top of the line GPU, etc), metal unibody, waterproofing, infrared remote blaster, at least 128gb+6gb, and at least 5000mah battery + at least 18W + Battery Care.

There's not a single maker that offers all of this in a single package. Oh also a *true-tri-slot* dual sim/dual 4g + memory card slot would be greatly appreciated. Again, no one ever did provide an entire slot (that each with its own flap, cap, rubber ring), for each of these 3 cards.

Additionally, the rest of the goodies like new gollira grass that *scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7* and good ol' reliable tough plastic backplate are appreciated as well~

Or you can buy a two year old flagship which would be way more bang for your bucks, i still don't understand this budget midrange nonsense.

Finally, the Xperia L3 is out! I'm waiting for months... I'm wondering why the review out is late? Any confirmation? By the way, meaning all Sony early-2019 phones has been reviewed, which's good to know. Now I'm going to do is to wait for the Sony late-2019 phones to be unveiled (Xperia 2, Xperia 20).

This would have been a hit last year.

It costs $150 in Taiwan according to eprice .

Gorilla 5, NFC, BT5.0, USB C 2.0 is missing for many devices low end devices.
Better having all this than better cpu (SD363, 660 ) but withou this.

I'd never buy in 2019 a phone with micro usb or gorilla 3

Sorry but Sony is done for! I except a Sony to have great camera and audio quality, that's what I expect from the brand.
But they're no where close to where I want them.

It seems even a old Sony Ericsson W800 will do a better job here in some matters. :(

EDIT: GSMarena staff, kindly review more phones like Redmi Note 7 "PRO" and all... Thanks.

Good phone for parents as a gift. Easy and clean software, nice to hold in hands, should be a little cheaper. Just to not have any hate in the first post for a sony phone.
