Its said it protects up to 30 minutes and up to 1,5 metre in water but lets be clear. Only when put in clear unrefined water and device is calm.
Try to swim with it and from 30 minutes one gets 30 seconds.
IP Protection is crap.

Premium its own way.
Its just better than any other you would name bbecause any other will cost too much and gives nothing worth it.
Redmi sells from low end untill hiigh end flagship. Anyphone with SD8xx cpu is considered as flagship features or no features doesnt matter. Its a flagship device. No matter how you look at it.
And its fastest device on the market proven by benchmark score due to fact it contains no burden which would slow it.
Something like a premium device does not exist since Vertu stopped from creating new phones. Vertu and caviar custom made phones are only premium devices you can get. Rest are just flagships and overpriced flagships with lots of useless features which only tech geeks needs. For anyone else this phone is just better than other just because it cost affordable price but offers beyounds believe.

This phone has some advantages over flagships: no notch, dual gps , dc dimming, bigger battery than s10 and iphone xs.
Could you tell me what makes a phone flagship other than useless ip68 and wireless charging?

Remove this from main phones , they will be much cheaper.
Redmi is a low midrange that uses SD8xx series. Nothing more.
It would be same if Samsung puts the cpu of S inside A series.
Except CPU, this phone has no advantage over any 2018 flagship from other brands that now cost less than $550 and offer much more .

( For Example ) If I'm a gamer , I will need a powerful chipset and good battery and I won't care about having good cameras or great looks but my friend isn't a gamer, he/she loves taking photos so he/she will need a phone with great cameras and won't care about having a very capable performance or great looks and other friend doesn't like using cases so he/she wants a phone with glass back to have that premium feeling and not to scratch easily or glossy plastic back to be more duarble and still looking great and he/she won't care so much about cameras or performance as he/she doesn't use his/her phone a lot but wants his/her phone to look nice and elegant.
It's just personal preference.

Anonymous, 29 Jun 2019lots of people don't use cases because it covers the design... moreEmm, I pick devices for their features and price, the appearance should be "not ugly", but you hardly can find an ugly phone nowadays; so I don't really "pick the color", usually I just go with black. And I see no problem to cover it - I will mostly look at its display anyways, and I don't really care how it looks for others.

Yeah, and I don't want the main market to screw us over again - by pushing these flashy backs that are essential parts of the smartphone and its price. Mi 9T here is alright example, unlike e.g. Honor View 20.

Smartphone is not a clothing, it's not a watch/ring/any accessory - its appearance is not included in the list of its main features. And I don't like smartphones that try to make it so, like Honor View 20 (which has no options without flashy back at all) - because it's unrational; if you want to prettify your smartphone - fine, put a case, a stickers, a vinyl skin (dbrand, etc.), an aerographic painting, whatever, but do it on your own and for your own money.

That is really a facepalm - choosing a smartphone because of looks in the first place, not because of features.
BTW, "design" and "appearance" are not exactly the same thing.

You can also use a third part launcher with icon packs or use themes.
