In my opinion, what is important in smartphone game is to hold the performance/price ratio higher. For example the difference between oneplus 7 pro and Samsung galaxy s10 series is that ratio. Oneplus phone delivers equal or even better performance than Samsung s10 plus in almost all aspects(I know 7 pro lacks a few features) but in lower price. So choose and select your phone wisely not fanatically. Tnx

Best phone is entirely subjective in terms of how the person views the phone and what they want to get out of it. The Pixel 3XL has in my own view delivered the best overall experience (sold in anticipation of the 4XL). I am kinda bored with my OP 7 Pro (Almond 256GB), I don't take selfies and whilst it does everything well, the experience leaves me kinda, meh. The S10 Plus is pretty good especially with One UI. The other phone I have enjoyed playing with is the Xperia 1 which is pretty stock and may get it instead if the 4XL, undecided at the moment. iPhonens simply do not figure in my deliberations.

I'm after a highest quality, fast, good looking flagship smartphone which has everything, all features that many other rivals lack. S10+ ticks all the boxes and it will be a smartphone of the year whatever you like it or not.

The picture of the Pro was only used to prove a point: that smartphone manufacturers can use skins only if they aren't buggy, like the example OnePlus 7 Pro. The OnePlus accomplishes this

P30 Pro lacks of stereo speakers, QHD+ screen and inconsistent with photos quality. I'd call Galaxy S10+ the best phone of 2019 so far.

I don't really understand how you can consider galaxy A series "astonishing" or even "good". From A10 to A70 there's hardly anything surprising except Samsung's OLED panels. Their cameras are all behind the competition and only in a80 does Samsung tend to use a better processor. There is actually no phone with Snapdragon 7xx series and that sucks while there are phones with almost everything you need from a phone in them like Redmi K20 and the Pro version. Both have more value/money. And there's nothing really interesting about Note 10 except S Pen. The processor is even the same as S10 and so are the cameras (like 3 out of 4 cameras). And there we see that weird hole in the screen while we don't see the headphone jack. Not to mention the battery, the case Samsung has not really been PERFECT in, but rather GOOD and probably GREAT.
So the way I see it, Huawei p30 pro was the best phone of first half where the Xperia 1 gains the second spot and the only disappointmemt I see is the battery. The rest of the competition except Apple which isn't really considered a competitor these days are doing well. There are great budget phones with pretty high value/money.

Record best ... moreWell, it's got the Best Camera for long-distance, there's that.
But for regular photos the Google Pixel 3XL is still the best, and for videos the iPhone Xmas is the best. But overall, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro/P30 Pro do have really good photography.
But yeah I know what you're getting at. The Nubia RedMagic 3 would've been the best phone of the year... if they removed the Active Cooling and update it from IP65 to IP68 waterproofing (and pushed a software update to allow root and Gcam). But don't worry, the ASUS RoG Phone2 is coming soon. And maybe a much better OnePlus 8 Pro as well?
Otherwise, yes, the Samsung S10+ is objectively the best phone of 2019 so far. And by the time that the Google Pixel 4XL is launched, it would have gone down in price from around USD $999 MSRP to actual retail prices of $550... it happens every year!
