S20 Ultra is full of gimmicks. Get the S20/S20+ unless if you're particularly into long-range zoom. That is the only area where S20 Ultra is better.

I will take your a... moreDon't get your hopes high. If the S20 ultra doesn't perform well after the release. It's not going to do any better after one month.
If you really want the 108mp camera, I would suggest you to wait for the Note 20 ultra(maybe).
Samsung will definitely add a laser focusing system(as the focusing of s20 ultra will be a disaster) and the software improvement will also be much better then.

This might help you. It's not a proof, just a rumor.

Nick Tagataka, 03 Mar 2020Even if it was a small "peak", if Samsung borrowed the desi... moreThey don't want to give Samsung Money !
Are you kidding ?
I'm guessing they had to buy many parts from Samsung.
And small pick doesn't mean copy.
Nuclear power wasn't invented by only one person if we go deep.
Someone invented atom structure , then more person listed details about other atoms, then finally one person come up with the idea of fission, then another person invented fusion.
So, the person who invented the fusion wouldn't be able to invent it if he didn't know about other ideas.
What I am saying is, Apple doesnt want Sammy to look into their design. Who knows ? Sammy might use the info and invent something better, And this won't cause any lawsuit.
If you don't agree then I must say you don't know much info about these companies.

I'm still waiting for the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G and Oneplus 8 series to surface before making a decision on which one to get.

I will take your advice and wait some weeks and see how the S20 Ultra fares after the camera update.
I'm just so sad that because I'm from Denmark I get the Exynos version. Wish we got the SD version like US because apparently that chip is better for gaming and for battery life:)

AnonD-754814, 03 Mar 2020This review unit was with early software. I can safely assume that camera performance can still be improved, as Note 10 series also have this problem. Although, if you haven't realized, Exynos SoC does have worse image processing than SD SoCs. But still, image quality is still acceptable and it is pretty good given there is adequate lighting, sharpness is just right in my opinion (used S10 Exynos).
What cannot be improved, is system, application and gaming performance. It's not really the OS to blame if the chipset just throttles early and heats up quickly under load. Anandtech has mentioned this in Exynos 9810 in S9/Note 9, and also said while this improved in Exynos 9820/9825, the overall performance is still somewhat behind QC and Apple's chips (not too sure about HiSilicon's Kirin).
Some sheepsungs have been defending Exynos for some weird reason. My S10 Exynos loads app quite slowly and unfortunately (even when screen res. is set to HD, turned off CPU limiter and cleared RAM) many games just stutter right away. Demanding games such as PUBG and COD Mobile can't just be played at very high settings. That's not the game to blame if other undemanding games such as Armed Heist or Pixel Gun also stutters. The guy who gives excuses games can run 60fps, is it running at lowest graphics settings?
Fingerprint sensor is also pretty slow and inaccurate. Samsung has repeatedly patched this last year and the improvement was intangible.
Again, you can expect improvement only from camera quality by an update but the fact it is a retail unit does not change the fact the S20 Ultra is still a somewhat mediocre device. The price is also a slap in the face in the US. SE Asia prices except Singapore is still reasonable.

Nick Tagataka, 03 Mar 2020Even if it was a small "peak", if Samsung borrowed the desi... moreDid you realize that Qualcomm and even HiSilicon is also relying on TSMC machinery? It's true Samsung is not copying anything in this respect. But if Samsung uses such architecture, it'll be infringing rights etc. what a joke. Old architecture really just makes the device underperforms. Coupled with slow OS which really makes even a lesser Mi Note 10 shine. Test that in a phone store. Low-end Sammy models like the M10s and M30s lags badly even when just loading the main screen and no background apps but retail mode is running.

WazzaG, 03 Mar 2020Apparently according to a commenter over on Sammobile, the ... moreIt could be improved massively through software updates for sure, but it will never reach the level of S20/S20+ since the sensor lacks Dual Pixel AF and shallower DoF makes an accurate focusing a lot more harder to achieve for the camera in close range.

Not s... moreI just read a UK review of the Ultra and they said that it had shitty battery life due go the UK getting the exynos version of the person. I don't understand why they make these shitty exynos chips and still charge the same amount of money. The exynos chips are total garbage.

AnonD-754814, 02 Mar 2020They can't steal it directly. It will be a criminal act. Bu... moreEven if it was a small "peak", if Samsung borrowed the design of their custom cores in any way it would be an immediate infringement of Apple's IP and could face a massive lawsuit from them in case they got caught. Samsung is a lot smarter and have more dignity than that.
As for the potential reasons why Apple is relying on TSMC, one could be that they don't want to feed their biggest enemy in consumer electronics market by giving them money. It also could be simply due to the lower cost, though I'm not sure if this is actually the case.
