You know what they say, neither two set of eyes are the same and it all applies here as well. Unless test images are labeled wrongly Mi 10 Pro might get more details but it has serious issues with focusing, all of it's images are blurred and lack sharpness. That's beyond evident in GSMA Photo comparison tool as well as Video comparison tool which only amplifies the sensor's shortcoming as it's unable to get anything into focus once it spreads out of center.

So to the eyes of GSMA this Mi 10 Pro might be the ultimate camera but to me it's the worst of the three in sample shots as well as comparison tool. Focusing issues are non fixable in the post.

DroidBoye, 25 Apr 2020I can see your point in the map portion of the studio image... moreThank you for the thorough explanation. I'm not an expert at all when it comes to technical stuff. I just thought that in terms of photo quality Mi 10 Pro would be a huge improvement comparing to my old and trusted Mi 5s in terms of photo quality. And i'm sure it is and i'll see it for myself when i get my hands on the new phone. I guess i just expected the quality would be more striking. I'm still buying this phone though for other reasons than photo quality. If they can fix some problems with picture quality with software update, that would be awesome.

If you go pointing out different parts of the image to prove your argument then that just shows how you missed the whole point in my previous comment.

Anonymous, 25 Apr 2020How is P40 better when the bald guy on the note has pink ar... more"pink artefacts"
That's just moire. S20 Ultra also shows the pattern but cancels them out well (presumably by applying stronger chroma noise reduction), whereas Mi Note 10 Pro doesn't show any because the sensor resolution is high enough to resolve all the lines on the note.

            "It's a blurry mess"
I don't know what's exactly happening there, but the regular P40 seems to be doing a much better job in this regard. Considering the regular P40 and Pro both use the identical lens and sensor, the discrepancy in the results might have been caused by a defective unit.

Look at the X-rite word. It is in the middle, not the sides. Which phone took the blurriest shot? A lot of people here do not examine the studio shots carefully enough.

If you are talking about natural blur at the corners due to bokeh? Then that same effect is on P40 pro and S20 ultra ,all coz of the sub 1/1.33" big sensor size.
Regular S20 doesn't show that effect.

Veryfeliz, 25 Apr 2020I just don't get it... After reading very positive thoughts... moreI can see your point in the map portion of the studio image (good lighting sample). Here's the thing, the 3 phones Mi 10 Pro, S20 Ultra, and P40 Pro shares the same sensor category that uses pixel binning: quad, nona, quad Bayers respectively. Check out the P40 Pro, it's the only one that is the clearest of them all (without the oil painting or oversharpening), what it has is a Sony sensor that solves the AF problem of these type of sensors using their 2x2 OCL tech. https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/12/sony-invents-2x2-on-chip-lens-solution-ocl-for-less-blurry-photos/

The remaining two uses Samsung Isocell sensors which utilizes the usual phase detect which has a "low horizontal detail negativity" issue (an error by sensor design, brought by only using the usual phase detect). Samsung uses software to mitigate this but in return making their zoomed images looking like an oil painting (oversharpened) while the Mi 10 Pro seems doing nothing about it. I can see the issue with Mi 10, look at the upper left of the map with text "London Bus Routes", you'll see a horizontal ghosting on the texts which makes them look out-of-focus even though in theory, they should be in focus. What's lacking is their software processing. If Xiaomi figure out how Samsung does theirs, then this is solvable via software update.

I just don't get it... After reading very positive thoughts on the picture quality in the review i headed to see the samples in Photo compare tool and was literally shocked at what i saw. Images taken with Mi 10 Pro are just awful! I'm not even talking about how they compare to those taken with Samsung or Huawei phones. They are just too blurry. And those studio samples are made using a tripod (i believe so), so it can't just be the result of an accidental shake. You can't read a thing on the map. Also, in the review there are pictures of the building that has some red banners with white sings on them. They are so blurry also, you can hardly read what they say. And still, cameras got a nice verdict from the reviewers. How is that possible? I'm a Xiaomi fan. I was so looking forward to Mi 10 Pro to be released. I currently own Mi 5s and i seriously love it as much as i did more than three years ago when i bought it. I just decided it was time to get a phone with better cameras. I didn't consider a phone by any other brand and i was ready to invest in Mi 10 Pro. But after seeing the picture samples i don't know if i want this phone anymore. I'm so, so disappointed.

Mi 10 Pro is on par with p40 and s20 series. Each phones have their victories in individual segments.

Outdoors, the light changes constantly as the clouds move and block the sun and conditions also change when strong winds blow, causing blurry foliage.
