Depends on display and curvature, not a fact.

>Curved display glares on edges - that's a fact.
Not. Reason same as above stated.

>Curved display costs more than the same specs flat display - that's a fact.
I don't think that curved OLED display right now costs more than flat OLED. If you disagree , then please quote source for your claim.

>One will struggle with using "Back" and "Previous app" navigation gestures (both are done by >pulling from screen's edge) on a curved display if a smartphone is with a case - that's a fact.
Different gestures (ones from bottom up) can be used , which can work from a case.
So not a fact.

Also for a note : curved screen !== full screen and current very high stb ratios. S6/S7 edges had curved displays but they had top and bottom bezels any 2020 smart would be ashamed of and full screen phones (as marketed btw) not always use edge displays.

>Smartphone is not a monitor and you need to hold it comfortably with your hands to operate it - true
>thus it doesn't need too much of screen-to-body ratio -
what exactly is too much STB ? For you? For me? For others ?
>thus the purpose of curved displays and hole-punch selfie cameras are false - which makes them unnecessary - that's a fact.

And that's definitely not a fact.

Ultimate Reviewer, 30 Apr 2020I don't think you understand what a fact is... Those are op... moreOk, I'll repeat.

Curved display distorts image - that's a fact.

Curved display glares on edges - that's a fact.

Curved display costs more than the same specs flat display - that's a fact.

Curved display causes accidental touches if a smartphone is without a case - that's a fact.

One will struggle with using "Back" and "Previous app" navigation gestures (both are done by pulling from screen's edge) on a curved display if a smartphone is with a case - that's a fact.

Hole-punch selfie camera leaves unused pixels above it - that's a fact.

[no cutouts > any other option > hole-punch] where ">" is for "looks better" - that's not a fact, obviously; so what?

Smartphone is not a monitor and you need to hold it comfortably with your hands to operate it - thus it doesn't need too much of screen-to-body ratio - thus the purpose of curved displays and hole-punch selfie cameras are false - which makes them unnecessary - that's a fact.

Nicolas F, 30 Apr 2020Lol, no. This - "Curved displays are objectively abso... morePunch hole displays make as much area unusable in display as small notches , but they make far less dead pixels , with more pixels left and more illuminated are, they are less intruding and are perceived better by user.
That's my experience with punchhole displays, from my S10e.
Same with bezellessness, I don't have problems with bezels gone . After all, the movement since 2007 was to have more screen, so we can better enjoy multimedia on our phones. For a note: I can still grip phone, when watching video or gaming.

I can't comment on edge phones. I didn't had or have any. Many hate them, many love them. And they were successful. So think about it. Are they bad? Not exactly.

That's are my preferences(tastes) and experiences. They aren't strictly facts. One has to learn difference between preferences(tastes), experiences and facts. Opinions can be based on experiences, but they still are opinions, not facts. And as experiences can vary greatly , you can't say that your sole experience makes a fact.

Fact is something which proves again and again to be true, every time. Nothing you presented is something like that.

I understand your frustration with edge panels or punch holes, but only fact that is certain, is that a significant amount (but not exactly a majority of) of people hated and had discomfort with curved displays (That's why thumb rejection was added later on such models. ). There are things which some people will hate with a passion, but that doesn't make them useless, cause same things might be appreciated by others and curved displays are actual examples of that.

Nicolas F, 30 Apr 2020Lol, no. This - "Curved displays are objectively abso... moreI don't think you understand what a fact is... Those are opinions. You literally can't prove how those opinions are facts.

AnonD-546724, 30 Apr 2020That's only your opinion man Not facts Lol, no.

          This -

"Curved displays are objectively absolutely bad - they have no reasons to exist, they distort image and glare on edges, they are either uncomfortable without case or don't let to use "back" and "previous app" gestures with case, they cost more than the same specs flat displays." -

          and this -

"Same goes for hole-punch selfie cameras - they look bad [no cutouts > any other option > hole-punch], they leave unused pixels above it, they are unnecessary because too big screen-to-body ratio is unnecessary - it's not a monitor, it's a smartphone that you hold with your hands!"

          - are exactly the "facts". Facts that my (and not only my) opinion is based on. If you want to counter it - bring your facts, though in this case you wouldn't be able to.

Your comment is hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

You wrongly assume I am a proud owner of an iPhone. You clearly have no idea, not a clue. I suggest you check out my pseudonym, prior to drawing ill-conceived conclusions.

An awesome addition to the GSMArena website would be selecting the refresh rate and resolution (in the Battery Life section or Battery Table) on these latest flagship phones as to see to what extent it has on the battery life. :)
For example I wanted to see the endurance of the OP 8 Pro set at FHD + 120Hz and I couldn't find it. :(

Also please consider mentioning what software update/OS version you are running when it comes to the Camera Review Section as OnePlus (and many others) can change dramatically after a few updates post reviewer/media sample collection date.

Last thing, the new audio test section is awesome, it's sad not to see it in this review.

Your battery tests are untrustworthy...are you telling me that EXYNOS S20+ you tested before had better results than SNAPDRAGON 8 Pro? Your tests - exynos s20+ 1440p 60Hz =97h. 8Pro same resolution and Hz = 92h. Don't believe that. There are so many comparism on the internet where it's been proven that exynos are much less power efficent with worse battery life than 865 variants

Anonymous, 30 Apr 2020Seems you didn’t read the comment mentioned that S20 plus s... moreI know Exynos running S20 has slightly better camera performance than SD version. But you have to understand that QHD@120hz consumes more battery compared to 1080p@120hz.
And these tests are done in default mode. This is why SD version of S20 have slightly better battery life than OP8 pro/Find x2 pro. If Samsung is made to run at QHD@120hz thru third party app, the results become worse than that of Find X2 pro/OP8 Pro.

Even in gaming tests, you'd have Snapdragon S20 pushing more frames compared to OP8 Pro simply coz of the lower resolution.

Why there is only one band of 5G ? or and what is the importance/difference of s20+ 5G bands and OP 8 pro?

IOS was too handicapped to run widgets. I remember implementing a simply HTC flip clock on jailbroken iPhone 6, lagged like hell.
If they aren't so useful, why is iOS offering it now?

Android innovated with a better compact tear drop version of notch or pop up camera or punch hole displays which don't consume any extra screen real estate. While iPhone has got that ugly brick sized notch.

Gestures existed on Android years back. Third party gesture apps existed for years. Only got incorporated in Android version later by pixel just like split screen multitasking was incorporated later.

I got to be honest, I see minimal to no oversharpening effect on all the photos. It's a surprise to see OnePlus can produce better photo quality than its brother, the Oppo Find X2 Pro, despite using the exact same Sony IMX689 sensor.

That's it, OnePlus 8 Pro in my wishlist. This would be my first taste with OxygenOS if I do have the chance to buy one.
