I am still a fan of android, android phones are affordable, with good cameras, with bigger battery capacity.

Those greedy little bastards took out the 3.5mm jack even tho they had enough money to install a touch sensitive home button
Then they had the audacity to sell a separate 3.5mm jack adapter to profit more money
What about the other people (Like ME) who still use headphones with a 3.5mm jack?
It’s just a money steal!

I worried SE due to old design concept. But it was totally wrong.
Really wonderful harmony between original and new fashion trend.
Now it's difficult to me to decide my daughter's present... SE or Velvet...

I picked mine up because of size and price as my first "smart phone" and technically, it seems to live up to the hype. However, I have to caution ANYBODY getting this as their FIRST smart phone: Don't Expect Any Directions On Use. I was amazed at the complete lack of concern from Apple for first time users. Their website is a maze of slick marketing, and lacks the basic organization to find things easily. Their assumption is that you already know all about smart phones, or why would you buy one? I finally had tech support (a kindly soul) refer me to Utube to get the basics of phone operation. The company that sold me a 400.00 phone can't afford basic operating instructions, and wants 3.99 for the privilege of downloading instructions. If you're new to this process and smart phones in general, you better know someone who has the time to help you through the basics because you certainly won't get any assistance from Apple.

YouNite., 16 Jun 2020Oh yay. We have 2 sides of people here, people who like the... moreI got actually confused when watching reviews about this phone. It puts flagship specs on the table but brutally takes away one vital aspect expected from the cheapest of budget phones: a decent battery!!!
The shear fact that it has such a miserable battery life makes this phone out of question.
I think GSMarena's battery test has the most credibility bcoz all of those Youtubers out there drain the battery in one mode only: screen-on time (SoT) .
Letting the phone run a game or play a video with the screen on has its merit but doesn't even tell half of the story. It's a phone, it must be connected to the network.
The four-hour video playback doesn't sound all bad. But add this to a power-hungry network connection and then do the math!

Oh yay. We have 2 sides of people here, people who like the phone, and the people who hate it. Here is **my opinion** on it.
Speed - What more do I have to say? A13 on 720p screen. Simply amazing. 9.5/10
Display - But...that’s where the fun ends. A 720p screen with ancient bezels, LCD and 60hz. This is quite bad in 2020 and honestly this is literally an insult. However, the brightness is decent and the ancient bezels are needed to bring back that home button (and Touch ID). Overall, 3.5/10.
Camera - First of all this is a single camera, so no ultra wide, telephoto or depth sensor. Second, wow, this is actually quite good. Good photos with nice dynamic range, however not-so-good photos in the night. But you get THE BEST video at this price point (4K60 with OIS). Camera is 7/10 (no multiple lenses is a bummer) and video is a 9/10.
Battery - Painful. Painful. Painful. In MrWhoseTheBoss’s battery test, it got a measly 4 hours of SoT and in this review, it got a 59hr endurance rating. For comparison, the S10e got 83 hours. The charging speeds aren’t any better - a 5W charger comes in the box. 2/10, only saving grace being wireless charging.
Audio and build quality - These are pretty good- of course, coming from Apple. The audio is great and the device has IP67 water resistance and a very nice build. 8/10
Wrap up - The iPhone SE is a weird device. It’s for a person who:
- wants a compact phone
- wants iOS on a budget
- isn’t super techy.
- wants the best speed at the lowest price
- needs a good camera at the lowest price
If you’re none of these, the iPhone SE is probably not for you. If it is, let’s consider some more options before you swipe that credit card.
- Samsung Galaxy S10e, better screen, way better battery life, an extra ultra wide camera and is still compact. My personal pick if you want a compact phone. Worse video and speed (although they still are pretty good).
- Huawei P40 Lite, better screen WAY WAY better battery life, and 3 more cameras. But - no GMS, which is a big bummer.
- OnePlus 7T, this phone has gone down in price so so much, and is honestly way better than all the other phones right here. Not compact though, so do keep that in mind.
- A bunch of Xiaomi and Realme phones (none of which are compact though).
Overall, the iPhone SE is really a niche option. Good but not amazing. There are better options for compact phones and phones at this price point. But it can still hold its own with its speed, video and audio.
Thanks for reading. If you disagree that’s ok, just reply and we can discuss.
