Android--Master, 10 Dec 2020"They just want a phone that is familiar and consisten... moreSorry, not meaning to offend, but 11% of the whole market is huge. The other 89% is plit among many manufacturers.

But yeah I agree Apple is outdated considering my ROG 2 is also using 60W charging.

[deleted post]We have all the money in the world.
We aren't Fools to buy an inferior product at higher price.

I was going to buy the S20 ultra which costs around Rs.90k in my country but decided against it due to Exynos. Bought the OnePlus 8 pro instead at 60k.
Why should I spend 30k more on inferior S20 ultra when a better product is available?

Same way, why would anyone buy an inferior iPhone 12 pro Max at 130k with outdated Hardware and software? Why would I upgrade to iPhone 12 pro Max from my previous daily driver of iPhone 11 pro Max? I'd buy a superior phone instead and I did.
    Totally satisfied with my purchase.

This year I'll switch again (most likely) simply because I can. Money isn't an issue.
It certainly won't be the iPhone 13 Pro Max though for obvious reasons.

Is that why Apple managed to ship only 11% of total smartphone shipments in Q3?
89% people wanted nothing to do with iOS.

                Lol Sub 20W for iPhone.
Even budget devices from Android have 65W these days. Plus it comes inside the box.
Android Just head and shoulders above its competition.
So glad to be part of the premium eco-system of Android where one doesn't have to use outdated charging technology and be glued to the charger all day due to pathetic battery life.

Hey GSMa. Been checking your page nearly every couple of hours for reviews of the Samsung M51 and Poco M3. Their battery endurance especially. Of course, I appreciate the time and effort you take for detailed reviews and your battery tests. But please do not have a charger test. Take your time and looking forward the M51 and the M3. All the best.

Whackcar, 09 Dec 2020Take pride in what exactly? Buying an inferior product? App... moreYou are so right on this. I agree that Apple never ever had any technological breakthrough. But sadly, we have to agree they are the ones setting the standard. 5G was not common, but with Apple iPhone 12 out, every telco in my country (Singapore) is fighting for the 5G pie now. You can say Apple time it just nicely but then this is kudos to Apple itself.

Another thing is that, Apple is so rich, usually they will wait for the "new breakthrough" technology to stabilize before implementing, which someone here did mention, some people just want something that works without all the mambo jumbo.

For people who knows what they are doing with their phones, Android offers more "usability". But for ease, Apple really takes the cake.

But don't get me wrong. I own an iPhone 12 and ROG 2 (did not upgrade to ROG 3 due to minute upgrades), and I love both. I would say they serve similar yet different purpose.

Lastly, I don't think it is wrong for people to feel proud about their purchases, be it something cheap or expensive. We never knew what that person went through before being able to make that purchase. I remember being a young boy and saved up enough money to buy a Gameboy when it was already obsolete. I spent SGD$30 but god was I proud when I bought it as it was an achievement to me.

                      Let's all exist in peace.

If it means so much to someone, why wouldn't they be proud of it? I have zero thoughts on Apple today. I only ever bought one device and that was the U2 edition of the iPod, but I was pretty proud of that. It wasn't the most hardcore MP3 player at the time, but I loved it.

Whackcar, 09 Dec 2020Take pride in what exactly? Buying an inferior product? App... moreNot everyone want weird exotic functions or features. They just want a phone that is familiar and consistent and just works. For a lot of people that's iPhone with iOS and I can understand them why after using iPhone for 2 years now and being on Android almost since it's beginnings prior. It may not have all the fancy customizations and tweaks and features, but it's just a more consistent experience and long term software support on iOS is just unmatched. Just look at latest Samsung Android 11 announcement. Most users will have to wait for months to even get it. No such nonsense with iOS. If update is out, it's out for everyone with very rare exceptions and even those are usually days apart, not months. Everyone laughing and making fun of crappy 5W charger that was in the box yet majority of iPhone users apparently charge phones over night where even 5W is plenty for the task. I like to compare iPhones to VW Golf because of that. Always small changes between versions, technologically up there, but never doing anything outlandish or extreme. Generally well built, but can have dumb design fails here and there. And people love them for that reason. Why else do you think there are so many VW Golf users. And equally iPhone users. Sure, there are things that annoy me with iPhone, but none as much as garbage Android updating process with crappy long term support unless you buy a new phone. Privacy is also so much better and developers actually obey things where everything on Android is just wild wild west.

As far as charging goes, I'm actually using Baseus 5W Qi charger and RAVPower 2.4A 4x USB port charger to which I have all my stuff hooked can charge all my devices (iPhone XR, AirPods 2, Apple Watch 5 and old ASUS Transformer hybrid). They get the job done just fine without warp charge speeds. Had that with QC3.0 on Xiaomi Mi5 and I don't particularly miss it now.

Do you not just use the one in the box?

I think that the 12W charger is reasonably priced, and it works well enough for my iPhone 8. Apple should discontinue the 5W charger at this point as it is horrendously slow.

"We sure don't recommend using this brick every day as it charges at high voltage, and chances are it will shorten the lifespan of your battery faster than any of the other chargers tested."

For a tech site, that's a pretty ignorant comment. I thought it was just a typo, but it turned out it was repeated twice, on different pages.

                                    CHARGER VOLTAGE != BATTERY VOLTAGE

Please stop spreading this myth around. There are charger circuits since 20 years already that take the input voltage and convert it to a voltage suitable for the battery.

Unless you have the datasheets for the conversion chips that show that running at higher input voltages yields a lower efficiency, please don't write such disinformation again. If you're not sure, ask somebody who works in the domain.

[deleted post]Sorry to burst your bubble, but Apple has become the common standard & is no longer associated with the upper-class. The elites among us use Galaxy Folds & Mate Xs which cost well over 2K USD. Know your facts!
