Anonymous, 21 May 2021Oh hello.. The sensor is 1/1.52" slightly smaller than... moreWay bigger than Pixel 5 and Iphone 12, 12 mini and 12 Pro sure. But only slightly larger than S21, S20, and Iphone 12 pro max. It is roughly the same size as Oneplus 9 ultrawide can and ever so slightly smaller than Oneplus 9 main cam.
108 mp hm2 is 1/1.52 inch
50 mp imx 766 ultrawide op 9 is 1/1.56 inch
48 mp imx 689 op 9 main cam is 1/1.43 inch
Iphone 12 and pixel 5 12 mp is 1/2.55 inch
S21, s21+, s20+, xperia 1 iii, s20 and iphone 12 pro max is 12 mp 1/1.7 inch
While the rest ultra phones have sensors about as large as 1/1.3 inch

Mi 11i is an good phone, but it isn't worth it. Get the Poco F3 for half price instead. At europe, mi 11i costs £649, while Poco F3 costs £299 right now at same storage variant. You are getting 95% of the experience. You only lose the larger 108 mp sensor and snapdragon 888 5% improvement in performance. But remember, snapdragon 888 is an overheating beast. Poco F3 is as good as mi 11i for just half the price.

Anonymous, 21 May 2021Oh hello.. The sensor is 1/1.52" slightly smaller than... moreYes... but I didn't even once calling that sensor bad, by any margins. I've already seen its output in a pal of mine's Realme 8 Pro, and I'm thoroughly impressed, it's a real eye treat. What I inferred was that this sensor is likely meant to be used mostly in budget phones, hence '108MP for the masses'.
But if you were to compare it with HMX... well you haven't seen what GCam+27MP output can do. Details and details, all of it. But that's my own personal opinion anyway.

Its way bigger than the sensor on Zenfone 8, pixel 5, iPhone 12 series, regular Galaxy S21, Xperia flagships. It's flagship grade. Don't you dare call this a mid range sensor.

I wish they included the HMX instead of the much poorer performer HM2, as their output resolution is much better than the HM2 (27>12MP), and bring at least a quad-bayer ultrawide (20MP) and even a 8MP 2x telephoto instead of a useless 5MP macro

Anonymous, 21 May 2021HM2 is successor to HM1 which is a successor to HMXThat's not true.
HM1 isn't the successor to the HMX. They're practically the same sensor but with different CFA, HM1 uses nonacell (108MP to 12MP) while HMX uses tetracell (108MP to 27MP). Oh also HMX can only do 6K while HM1 does 8K. Strangely, though, Xiaomi always offers 8K recordings on their HMX-equipped phones. Be it an upscaled video or some sort, I have no idea, but the results look quite decent on my current phone (mi 10t pro) if a bit soft.
HM2 is mostly '108MP for the masses', with their smaller pixels, thus a smaller sensor, that's only a bit bigger than your typical midrange 64MP imager. But it uses nonacell, which I've always thought would be a Samsung-exclusive thing.
The real successor to the HM1 would be the HM3, with its 12-bit color capture and better AF.

They have done a great job with cooling too.
Their devices overheat less compared to other Snapdragon 888 devices.

Camera Software will mature as this a new device.
Gcam will extract the most out of this sensor. I doubt the ones from Vivo and others will have similar kind of developer community support

At least regarding the camera quality (because the MiUI - its system, is a buggy shameless 4th grade java), this is the most expensive with the largest sensor with the crappiest digital processing device ever. With Xperia 1 II many of these shots situations are better (raw is amazingly easy and performed to edit). Having now the cleanest Android on the market plus is half the price of this 11 (around 650 euros in my country), make this 11 to be a real proof for such a crap copy-cat-sensor (look at the ones with 1 inch Sony!) and it's only for placebo paper numbers. Really not on par with its price in any aspect!

Anonymous, 21 May 2021More brightness decrease life span?? Sure if you are using ... moreThis is why people stay clear of Sony flagships.
They'll rather buy Mi, Samsung, Apple and others who give users what they want, not some dim half baked screen experience.
