My last Huawei sank in tea.
My sister peeled potatoes and droped her phone in bowl with water and potatoes.
Security case do not protect "regular" phone against the water.
I decided to try rugged phones and purchased the Blackview. It is cool to drop fone in water, to swim with it, make underwater photos and videos, and call with it again. :)
Now I purchased Defy for 10 years old kid. I hope, he will use it at least 2 years.

Andres, 11 Aug 2021Rugged phones are scams, don't fall for it. If you... moreMaybe a scam for office workers but definitely not for outdoor works. Regular phones don't survive a week or a month in a fish market or a coal mine. Even rugged phones die after a year of regular use on those harsh environments. Putting a rugged cap in a 'soap' phone expecting to be protected like an IP68/69K, 810G/H phone, it's a joke.

The UleFone Armor 12 is light and thin, equipped with 15W wireless charging, dual super linear speakers, and Play Through Speakers headset-free FM radio, which is enough to attract me.

                  Android 10?
It might get 11. No way it'll get 12. These slow update rollouts are exactly why I got oit of the ground handling biz.

If you're not looking for a super rugged phone (and "normal rugged", like, "can survive an occasional drop" will do), you can just get a rugged case for your favorite phone. If the phone is popular enough, it usually has a ton of cases available. Like Samsung A52 - tons of cases. I tried ASUS ZenFone 8 but couldn't find a case in EU (ok, maybe I preordered before the cases hit the market, or maybe I was CHEAP by not willing to pay $60+ for a case + shipping + import tax from USA, A52 case was $10, add $10 glass and you're set).

100€ more is money that not all are willing to spend.

An amazing device. This has nothing to do with it...

Weird how this review does not even mention that this phone is the successor to the 2010 Moto DEFY which was the first IP67 rated rugged phone on the market. The bold design and thick plastics carry over from the original.

232g with a plastic back. Nonsense.

Rugged phones are scams, don't fall for it. If you're paranoid just buy a normal phone and put on a rugged case on it.

The base configuration for the Nokia XR20 is only about 100 Euros more and you get ALLOT more for that money.

More Rugged MIL810G vs H on the Moto
                                        Bigger, higher resolution screen
                                        5G
                                        WiFi 6
                                        USB 3.0
                                        Better Cameras
Dual Band Bluetooth 5.1 with 2X2 MIMO
3 year warranty with 1 free screen replacement
Android 11 out of the Box with 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates

It all that is not worth the extra 100 I have no clue what is. If you're buying a rugged phone, you're probably buying it to last. The Nokia is WAY more future proof and has better support.

The defy is great if you want a budget phone for the kids that will survive the school yard, but for anyone serious who wants to hang on to a phone for a bit and needs a rugged phone is better off splurging on the Nokia XR20. For the extra money you're getting more out of the box, and a stronger long term commitment with future proof where it counts hardware
