Sony Ericsson T303 review: Small is beautiful

1 May 2008
A sexy minimalist slider, Sony Ericsson T303 gives the low-end a new edge with looks and construction well above its rank. Even if not a full-house in terms of skill and style, the basic multimedia coverage and solid feel in hand are well worth it. The FM radio...

    Great points:
Small and stylish- able to snug into tight pockets and small handbags
FM radio is a little bonus
D-pad is very sleek and easy to use
    Good first time phone

    Worst points:
Keypad is very cramped- had this phone for over 6 months and my thumbs actually ache from txting.. Unable to txt fast as there is lag time
Clear and shortcut button- Worst buttons you could push! need to apply a lot of pressure
Storage- even for a inexpensive phone- 8mb is not alot at all!
Screen- Ive seen better on cheaper phones! mirrored look on silver colour is really distracting- cannot see probably in normal daylight! Always have to strain to actually see properly!
Slide- becasue its a small, compact phone you have to push up on the screen to slide it up which always leaves fingerprints on the screen- not great on the mirrored look..

Overall I give this phone a 4/10- recommend only for first mobile buyers

The worst experience I've ever had was with this phone. Suffice is to say, it was so bad I'd be avoiding S-E phones ever since.
First of all, the first phone I bought from my provider only turned on the mic when the speaker was on. Weird, but the second phone 3 months down the road showed the same problem. Next, it often turned itself off for no particular reason. Every now and then it would freeze in Emergency Calls Only mode or just in the Locked state and the only way to revive it was to remove the battery and put it back in in a few seconds. But the worst feature is the way you have to find the right position of it against your ear. Sometimes you don't hear anything at all only because the little speaker slot is pressed a bit to the side.
I've replaced it with an unlocked Treo and so far I'm happy.

bought the phone a couple of months ago...

            good things
real metal on the outside, solid feel
cheap slider, but because of the nice looks and solid materials, it gives a more expensive first impression
            small, yet not unpractical
            good battery life

            expected negatives
of course no memory, so not really a IPod replacement
camera is useless unless, maybe just good enough to make blurry picture of very special event.

I don't mind since I hardly ever really use these features anyway; like most people

            unexpected negatives

            SOUND
the sound quality... really bad, high pitch, flat tone. For a conversation that lasts a couple of seconds, it's ok, any longer and I just want to hang up to avoid a headache. Never had this on any other phone.
Volume of the sound: also not great. In combination with the previous complaint, it makes it sometimes a challenge to understand what the other person is saying.
            Hands free
= useless.. has all previous problems but then x2

            SCREEN Quality
Ok, it is a budget phone, so you should not expect to much, but even so, I have seen cheaper phones with better screens. It really looks like a screen that comes out of a 5 year old middle range phone.

            Games
I'm not at all a great fan of mobile phone games, but sometimes, on boring moments, they might offer some relief. My phone didn't have a single full game, only a couple of very irritating demo versions. Might just be Vodaphone that is to blame here.

Conclusion: It is a 5 year old phone with awful sound in a nice package. Can I live with it... yes; would I buy it again... No

looks are very good,handy,rough-up,impressive,sexy,...and too much to say. but the main drawback is m2 card & low volume of FM radio...too low.

I'm absolutely delighted with my phone. I just got it today and I love it. I was a bit apprehensive at first because it's a down-grade from a Moto Rokr but I just know I'm better off with this one. Was a bit sad that it doesn't have a memory slot but then I have an MP3 player and a slim Sony cam so it's not really a biggie.

Still, I totally love this phone. I got the silver one and it looks gorgeous, it feels gorgeous and even though I've got little hands, it fits really well in them.

So, if you're looking for a low budget phone that looks and feels good and has a good battery-life, I'd say this phone is perfect.

my mom said shell buy me a phone if i could get good grades for my exams. And I reali did. I took a glance on each phone in the shop and this phone makes me fell inluv with it. the price is acceptable and the design is cool. But the function is not very good. Although its only 1.3 mega pixel for the camera but when I upload it into my pc it looks perfect. The thing is, this phone doesn't has memory card. else, it will be just wad i want. But finally, i still bought this phone because, if I wanna listen to some songs, i can use my ipod. it doesn't matters lots.

                      xoxo

Stylish and all the basics you need. A great simple phone. If you want perfect pictures use a camera and if you want loads of music use your ipod. This phone is perfect for talking, texting and a bit of fun.

Gorgeous phone, I got it just yesterday. I was looking for a low budget mobile, and this one did the trick. The black is slick and cool, the silver is more feminim. FANTASTIC!!!!!!

IMO it looks like a downsized version of Samsung's G800 (brushed silver trim) and Nokia's N81 (keypad) rolled into one

                                    and with HSDPA.
