Netflix HDR issue (Zenfone 9)
Any one experiencing the inability to play Netflix on Full HD on Zenfone 9? I've contacted both Asus and Netflix, and they cannot solved this issue. A little bit dissapointed.

Adil, 12 Mar 2023I am using it since a month now. Its awesome phone. Battery... moreCan you check if max. cpu frequencies are locked during 1080p recording? This is the downside on zen8 after playing a lot with 1080p video recording in pro video mode. Probably nobody noticed this.
There are also occasional freezing in recorded videos(3 frames long once per 1-3 min.) which is also downside, but I can live with that. Also noticed that zen8 optical stabilization can make mistake(blurriness in few frames) when light condition are not perfect...I noticed this even when everything was on manual(exposure speed, iso, focus).
If zen9 doesn't have these minor glitches, I'll be happy.

Nelson , 03 Jan 2023You know that movies are done at 24fps.
It is not all abou... more24fps in movies are good for static scenes. With combination slow exposure times(1/50) you can give the impression that the moving scene(e.g. car chase) was very fast. Motion blur can hide lack of fluency a little bit, but that is all what 24/30fps can gives you.
As technology improved, 60/120fps with OLED combination can gives you what human eye is capable of perceive and process.
It is very pleasant to watch 60/120fps fast moving content which was recorded at least 1/400+s per frame.

Just bought it and my first impression of the screen brightness is terrible. It's way too dark compared to my old Sony XZ1 compact. At 30% brightness Sony is brighter than Zenfone 9 at 70%. Any suggestions or advice? I'm really disappointed with Zenphone 9 screen brightness.

Bruhwtf, 05 Dec 2022Exactly. I'm sitting here like the thing can do 4k@120... more60fps can look crappy on some (mainstream) TVs, especially at 4K. So, unless you know your audience has screens that can handle your 60fps video, you may want to use 30fps.

Wtf guys? Also what is this obsession with 4k@30? Who even records at that when you have 4k@60. Just so many questions man.

Great design ratio and dimensions. I would like you guys to add in your reviews also slow-motion samples and to use flash to see how it works. Very good phone by the way. Good thing the 3.5 jack too.

Headphone jack + but no removable storage a deal breaker. But very low on value, maybe they hired some ex-Sony guys that overpriced their own value as well. The best way to knock down inflation is to restrict discretional spending until prices go down.

It's good to see that Asus listen to their users. The button fingerprint reader is a much better idea.
The screen fingerprint reader on the 8 was awkwardly placed. I could never get it to work one handed, couldn't get my thumb to it consistently even trying for 2 weeks of use. Dropped it and went back to passcode as I could just do that one handed (after they moved the lock keyboad back down at user request on the next OS update)
I've found their support to be very helpful, whether it's a simple stupid question about the ever increasingly complex settings pages (and changing where the settings are) in Android or technical questions such as how to remove even Asus limited bloatware apps.
Even after a year of ownership (I run most tech into the ground) I'm tempted to upgrade as thier compromises are absolutely fine with me. Who needs (not wants/likes) wireless charging? Who needs something to look glossy and sleek, I'd rather it worked well, didn't scratch, helps me to not drop it and if I do then nothing creaks or cracks as it hits the pavement or tiled kitchen floor. It's a tool. Yes I'd like it to be presentable but I'd much rather it did it's job forever.
