Trying to understand the battery test. The s23+ did better on all three tests, by a lot but the S21+ got a better time.. surely it can't be that skewed by standing by time?

What I don't get, the battery scores are higher than the S21+ in each category:
      S21+:
      3G talk Time: 31:01h
      Web Browsing: 13:55h
      Video: 18:55h
      S23+:
      3G talk Time: 34:53h
      Web Browsing: 17:47h
      Video: 19:44h

Yet, the the Endurance rating for the S21+ is 114h and the S23+ is 111h.

CargoJoe, 10 Feb 2023I don't think half the comment section knows what they... moreIt seems that the S23+ is the direct competitor for the 14 plus and the latter set the bar really low, so it's really not surprising that the former ended up as a disappointment as well.

I don't think half the comment section knows what they're talking about.
Still for $1000 this isn't a good buy. It's like buying an iPhone 14 Plus. Not the best value device. Maybe if it's $700 or $750 it'll be worth the buy. The good thing about this device are that it has a true triple camera, a decent battery and it's better ergonomically for a 6.6 inch device. Since many of it's competitors are better valued with compromised specs it's seems like this device is the better option for a standard smartphone with flagship specs. But it's not worth the one grand.

Excellent battery life across the board with the S23 series!

Good loudness how can have superb stereo speakers? Is writer vaping weed while writing this?! It should not even be 4.5 if its not flagship offering at flagship price. Camera same as last year. Screen not 10-12 bit and refresh rate not even the ultra. Price is absurb with only cable. The throttle is disappointing. Charging speed is a joke. Its better to get other brands than Samsung for 1k price tag

"On the subject of colors, we expect nothing short of excellence from Samsung's flagships and, for the most part, were not disappointed by the Galaxy S23+. Well, aside from the fact it is still stuck with 8-bit color, while competitors offer 10 and even 12-bit."

That's quite disappointing, to say the least..

Aside from that, I found the 50MP mode on this phone not really that useful - The processing itself is very mature indeed, image stacking seems alignment-error-free and it doesn't seem to go overboard with noise reduction or sharpening either, but the lens is simply way too soft across the frame to resolve the resolution. The comparison between this, Xiaomi 12S Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max in their respective full resolution mode really showcases the problem.

You might have been able to argue that for 2x crop zoom you only need the centre of the lens to be sharp, but unfortunately, Samsung's flagship still doesn't use the extra resolution that a Quad Bayer sensor provides for digital zoom, so the opportunity is wasted here as well.

So worst packa... moreNot sure if you know this but US prices never include our sales tax, whereas European prices tend to include their VAT. Therefore, if say a phone costs $1000 in the US and sales tax is 8%, it's $1080, pretty close to that €‎1100 figure

Really looking forward to seeing Samsung utilizing new technology as tunable optics from PoLight TLens. That would bring their cameras to a new level of superb.

Ugly photos. My z3+ from 2015 can deal better with cars , trees and turf.

Some are gonna use excuse " early firmware". That is the firmware approved to ship. If they are not 100% satisfied, delay the sales until it is polished enough.
Even on ipad screen these photos look ugly. Imagine on pro 4K screen.

If all flagships were using same sensor, same ISP and same lenses, photos of galaxy would be just ahead motorola (by far worst today).
Even Nothing phone does better than s23.

A decoy product supposed to elevate the ultra.

Anonymous, 09 Feb 2023"Is there any reason for it to only be 8-bit besides p... more1. My bad, I expected the Ultra to do 10-bit. My opinion on even that phone has gone down now.
                                        2. So who cares if it's cheaper? Is the price of the device cheaper? "Cheap" is justified only when the savings are given through to the consumer. This device has had a price hike of ~10K INR in India. Not exactly "Cheap". Don't make excuses for the corporate my guy.
                                        3. Okay. There is so much wrong here. Please check out battery stats for pretty much any other device with a 10-bit or 12-bit display panel. Why is it easily on the same time range?

"Why do you think Apple uses 8-bit?"
Because Apple is a corporate so greedy they don't feel the need to innovate or adapt because people are paying? Why do anything when you're bottom line isn't getting hurt.

There are "fanboys" for every corporate out there. You trash Xiaomi for something, people come out to defend. You trash Realme, same result. You trash Apple, same result. Basically, there's always going to be a substrata of your audience who might be alienated by your review - and that's okay. I'd even go so far as to say, if that isn't happening, are you really being objective or are you pandering to the masses?

Just because this website "needs" to do it doesn't mean we as commentors are held to the same logic. And if you're website is just doing it to please your audience, you'll soon lose all credibility because by definition, you're not being objective.

Don't care about youtubers. Only one I follow and trust is Geekyranjit.

OP11 is probably being hyped because it's a singular device this year. No Pro/Vanilla duo like last year. It's something to definitely acknowledge. No vanilla device being artificially limited or priced high to justify the uber high prices of their pro device

Absolutely hard agree there on the last part. Both Apple and Samsung's flagship prices are laughable at. It's comical how nobody even tries to ask "But why do these need to be priced so high?".But that is how the market runs unfortunately. You see your competition doing some insanely anti consumer highly profitable move - and you have to copy it for your bottom line. Insanely diabolical.
But there's a clear line between midranger and flagship. If you're buying a mid ranger, you want practicality - battery life, calling experience etc - Hence there, reviewers approach from the angle of practicality and Value for money.
If you're buying a flagship, you're most probably a person for whom money isn't a concern, so then you approach the product from an angle of "bells a d whistles"
My god what a lengthy comment
