So, a 1/1.76" sony sensor is doing more for google than 1/1.31" samsung sensor.
😅✌️
No wonder that all major brands (except motorola and samsung) are using exmor instead of isocell.

Initial reviews claim this phone has a poor battery life; the worst since the Pixel 4 series!
I guess I won't be upgrading my Pixel 5a to this anytime soon, I'l wait for the pixel 8 series or heck I might ditch google and buy the far superior POCO F5!

Vanilla 7 is even cheaper now and its a better phone. This is not phone for gamers. Its a simple, casual, camera phone, with pure android. Nothing more, nothing less. Price should be 400e max.

I've pixel 6a, purchased back in January 2023, should I go for it, or instead I go for pixel 7. In exchange, I'm getting in INR ₹27000. Pls suggest someone!

I can't think of any reason to buy the 7a over the 7; they're both in the same ballpark in terms of price (after the 7 has been discounted since its launch) and the latter is superior in every single way. Google should've differentiated the 7a by making it more compact/lighter just to give prospective buyers a reason to choose it over the regular 7, but it has a similar size/weight and a smaller screen! Again, why would anyone buy it, at least at launch? The only way it would start to make some sense is several months down the road when it too has been discounted and the price gap between it and the 7 has widened to $100+, if that ever happens.

charles, 10 May 2023this phone is not compact. for it to be compact it need to ... moreWho made you the authority on what is or is not compact?
This is one of the smallest phones currently available to buy. This by definition makes it small/compact, regardless of what you or anyone else thinks this means.
In the same way where in the past, people 180cm/6ft were considered very tall, and now they are not.

Nothing phone is much larger in size, so not the best competitor.
I don't know what kind of stutters you noticed, I didn't notice any on the pixel 7 with the same chip. The pixel 7 is buttery smooth and quick.
G2 isn't the best in power economy, but I would still say that it offers good battery life, at least on the pixel 7. With the same size battery on pixel 7a, it will perform even better.

So the Tensor is so bad you can't use the camera for more than a "couple of minutes"? I almost pressed go on one of these until I read that -Google won't be happy with that at all.
I guess I'll go with the Moto Edge 40, it's bigger, but the rebadged Dimensity 1100 that is the 8020 is a much stronger SoC.

It's funny how we have finally come around and acknowledge what a terrible processor Google uses - that it doesn't fly for an entry-level model is fine, but what will that mean for the $1800 Pixel Fold that uses the same chip?

So as per benchmarks, Tensor G2 is less than 10% better than G1

this phone is not compact. for it to be compact it need to have less than 68 mm of width. height does not matter.
