I am using this phone for few months now. Bought it because of good memories of xperia Z series.
        Pros in my opinion:
        - nice camera (decent picture quality)
        - 3.5 mm jack
        - clear sound
        - ok battery life. i expected it to be better though.
        - water resistant

        Cons:
        - Faulty system. I have to restart the phone almost every day. Annoying examples: sometimes someone calls and call alert stays on desktop after the call is finished. Some parts of touchscreen stop working.
        - Weird screen size. Keyboard is so small I mistype all the time and i don't have big fingers.
        - "do not disturb" mode still vibrates. So if you have set your phone to quiet mode you have to use airplane mode.
        - screen brightness poorly adjusts to light. I thought I am going blind at one point!! even after I adjust brigthness manually it eventyally goes to automatic settings after a while
        - finally, maybe for some people it is not a con, but definitely consider - camera software is way too complicated for normal everyday use.
        - very hard to find phone cases and other protective stuff

Overall I would say it would be ok phone for maybe 200 dollars but not for the price it is being sold.

This is a first pnone wich creates so many problems. It buggy, can't read NFC cards for ID validation. Seriously??? And this all costs 1000eur??
I am ready to sell it for 200, who ever needs

Anonymous, 14 Sep 2023I can't understand people who complain about the lack ... morelmao having to get a separate charger is more plastic packaging and money for the already very greedy corporates to make. They should've did what Xiaomi did: Have the option to have it in the box if you want to have a charger, and if you don't want one they can take it out.

I am experienced cell phone user and got Xperia 5V 256GB recently. Using for 1 week, Android 14 already installed from unboxing with updates. I will talk about cons first :
                              - Clean Android experience is very good as Google Pixel but Animations can be buggy sometimes, even more slow when battery goes lower than 5% but they are minor issues for me I don't care about that
                              - HDR capabilities not on par with other flagship as Pixel , Vivo etc. but deos good job excluding very bright conditions. If you try to shoot picture on bokeh mode when bright daytime hours, background will be overexposed as DSLR cameras
                              - Taller design forces thumbs to reach uppper sides, you need small finger placed on charger port to do that correcly on onehand but anyway you can use it with onehand

                              Pros:
                              - SD Card ( backup files directly to external device, if screen broke or something happen with phone you can easily access them
                              - 3.5mm Jack to use both Headphone and Microphone
                              - Dual Sim , Esim or 1sim + 1SDCard support
                              - Thick Design My Favorite to handle it on hand easy
                              - BATTERY SO SO SO Good. Average 5% / h take you next day easy with moderate usage without gaming. There's almost no battery drain while sleeping. If you force it with heavy recording and gaming you can finish day anyway.
                              - Camera quality is Superb, there's no oversharpening and almost DSLR quality. Sony doesn't make " nightvision " camera phones which they capture night as daytime. That is why Sony photos and videos so natural with nearly eye catching correct colors. Even night time almost no noise on shoots. People's complain about click and shoot capabilities on Sony but Both Basic and Auto mode does good job very well in most situations. Natural depth of field of 48mm focal length is super for portrait shoots and it helps bokeh mode to create stunning results.
                              - Photo / Video apps are amazing and gives you more controls over cameras, with natural depth of field and 4k120fps video you can create amazing results.
                              - Screen very good OLED panel with true blacks , balanced colors and sensitive. I haven't noticed any rainbow effect on display. I don't like selfie camera bump and don't care about small bezels from sides.
I researched before buying compact phone for myself and declined Pixel 8 for Exnyos, s23 for battery, ports, photo processing and Zenfone 10 for cameras.
                              Thanks for reading my review

From periscope tele camera with continuous zoom in the 1 III to cheaping out the tele entirely.
Sony's market strategy is a mystery.

Specs are on point, but not worth paying. With the same money, you'd get products with telephoto capabilities and faster charging speeds from other brands.

Mihai, 15 Nov 2023Sony why don't you let me take 50mpx photos with my 50... moreSensor is 52MP.
Since it is 4,3:3 format, largest image circle possible only allows 48MP to be used.
It is impossible to use 52.
Extra pixels are only used to assist EIS.

48MP mode is not available because it impacts speed.
Readout is far slower compared to 12MP.
                                    Probably 2x or 3x slower.
