HTC Touch Diamond vs. Samsung i900 Omnia: Head-to-Head

02 July 2008
It’s PocketPC playoffs and HTC are giving Samsung a match at the GSM Arena. With two of the stars of the season arriving in our office all at once, we thought it’s a heck of an opportunity for some Diamond-Omnia-Diamond-Omnia-Diamond-Omnia game-set-match. We got two aces up to the challenge, so sit back and stretch out. Ah well, get that six-pack too and join us for the kick-off...

sammy, 08 Jul 2008if they should compare the xperia to something it should be... moreNot sure about more beautiful... The phone looks so ugly because it's a fingerprint and grease magnet.

Touchflo can also be added to the Omnia.

Software can always be upgraded/added... Hardware is permanent.

by the way I'm in favor for htc cause it's more beautiful and the is touchflo 3D way better than the touchwiz but that's just me

I still want the HTC, this phone looks so good. Honestly I don't mind at all about the camera and the music player I've never used them on other phones except the very first day. i care more about the pocket size, the screen quality and the wireless. Nce one HTC !

Seems like someone is trimming all my posts. Well, if you can't take other people's opinion, don't post it for discussions.

Anyway, in retrospect and after much thought, I think the HTC Touch Diamond is more of a lady's version of the Omnia. One where "beauty" is put on top of functionality.

I would have to agree with the mass here, "Omnia wins receiver up!"© and "Diamond is receiver down!"©

I would like to toy with the Android OS installed in the Omnia and then turbo charge it with the Nividia Tegra 600 chipset.

The cameras on HTC devices have all been poor quality and this is stated on many forums. It eludes me why HTC can't won't produce a high end phone. I am glad that Samsung has not only stepped up to the plate but took it with them! Thanks, JASTECH

The diamond is nice, but the Omnia wins with it's 5megapixel camera hands down. I'm buying it.

kostas, 05 Jul 2008about that touch flo thing ...mmmhh who said samsung can't ... moreYes, u can change Omnia UI with TouchFLO style. But remember, TouchFLO are slower UI. Also u can installed iPhone look a like UI. Windows Mobile are open source, u can do anything what u want with 3rd party application.

It's really wierd to see the 900mhA battery on the Diamond. Though keeping handhelds slim is how things should be nowdays, it's rather disappointing to charge the device twice per day even in the power-saving mode. Traveling with it? You must be kidding. I dont wanna be forced offline in the third or so hour of my journey becacuse of poor battery life...what were HTC guys thinking when manufacturing Diamond? Maybe they are saving the vitality for HTC Touch Pro, I've read the specs, it's really attractive in spite of the VGA display whose diagonal has been left unchanged at 2.8".
