The 12R seems to be better compared to 12 Pro+ By its star ratings. Just the fact that They're on different target and class

ashrobb, 16 Feb 2024I've pointed this out a few times in earlier reviews..... moreWe do check if screens support HDR video and/or Widevine L1. If this info is missing in this review, I will make sure it's added.
As for GFXBench - we stopped testing it for a few good reasons:
- It was banned/blacklisted on many new phones we received for review, and it's never whitelisted at a later point. This caused gaps in our score database.
- It doesn't give you much different information in terms of device ranking compared to 3D Mark.
- Focusing on fewer, high-quality benchmarks makes the Performance section much more readable.
- Benchmarking now takes less time and allows for quicker review turnover.

LikeAG36, 16 Feb 2024Is it just me..... or this review feels awfully short compa... moreWe no longer do color accuracy testing of displays because we discovered the test is unreliable.
We no longer have a separate section for portraits, but you will find Portrait samples in the review. Despite marketing claims, we have seen no progress in this feature in recent years. It's already good enough across all phones, so we see no reason to dedicate it to a separate section any longer. If we see some big strides in this respect from future devices, we'll have more samples and detailed commentary.

I too miss the full resolution mode samples cz that's the one mode I use when I shoot outdoors on bright sunny days.
These guys used to review important stuff like call quality, messaging, typing experience etc back in the day but all of that has been discarded now which is quite sad :(

I think the best thing about this phone is it may signal the start of a trend of periscopes or at least telephoto lenses returning to the midrange after a few years of the 8mp+2mp for the auxiliary cameras. They actually put a better 3x zoom camera sensor on this than you have one some flagships like the Xiaomi 14/14 pro and Samsung s24/24+/24 ultra. Even the upcoming Xiaomi 14 ultra will use a weaker sensor for the 3.2x telephoto. Hopefully other companies follow suit with their midrangers later this year.

Mills, 16 Feb 2024Tecno Spark 20 Pro+, Oppo Find X7 Ultra and nubia Z60 Ultra... moreMaybe the Oppo and Nubia weren't supplied by the manufacturers or if they were maybe they weren't given a specific time line for a review. Most of the big manufacturers that supply phones to reviewers seem to give a time line for the reviews that often corresponds to just after the launch event or just after a specified embargo period (sometimes corresponding to when the phone is available for sale) and nearly all major reviewers then release the reviews at the same time for bigger launches. These phones are obviously given priority as there is a time scale for the review. Phones like the Oppo Find x7 ultra which didn't get a global launch or the Nubia Z60 ultra from a smaller brand are probably very low down on the priority list for gsmarena

The telephoto results look nice. The video results are questionable. Obviously it was windy - the camera shaking is normal, but the video rippling is not. Was the EIS on? It really shouldn't be turned on for footage taken on tripod. Also there is no off-tripod stabilization demo.

David 040882, 16 Feb 2024Anyone else noticed how it's written 5th of February f... moreYes, that means this review was supposed to come out after the S24+ review but GSMArena postponed it. And I agree with comments from LikeAG36 this review is incomplete and short.

I am surprised at how well it records videos at night compared to how it does during the day.

Where are the 50mp samples and why is there no zoom to the gsmarena building? Is there a difference to forced night mode (if any available?)?
The 6x zoom mode doesn't seem to always use the telephoto camera at night.
Earlier realme phone reviews also had night photos around the gsmarena building with some grass and nature, I wonder how this one would have performed there? And also the tripod mode regarding sky/star photography.

It seems that the main selling point is the design, which is typical for BBK.
Given this is supposed to be a camera-centric phone, the main camera's shots are definitely dull. I don't like them at all. The selfies and videos seem poor. Whilst these might be improved with updates, one can't assume that, and it's concerning that it was released without optimisation. Xiaomi wins this round. Let's see what the Nothing 2a has to offer.

Tecno Spark 20 Pro+, Oppo Find X7 Ultra and nubia Z60 Ultra waiting for their turn:
Seriously, one of these phones have been out since the end of 2023 (Z60) and still not reviewed. I feel like these phones are either hated or just forgotten. Please review the phones you didn't review or no one is gonna read them when they do finish the process.
