I had the same doubt, you can have a brand new 10 V for 280€ right now, the problem is that it is the international version (6GB / 128GB), the 8GB / 128 GB seems only available from the USA, so with postage to my country (Portugal), it would end up costing more than 400€... easy decision on this for me, I'd go for the 10VI, the only thing worse I think is the battery life (and maybe the 3rd camera, idk).

One irritating thing about Sony is that they limit the camera experience of their cheaper phones for no reason. I'd get that strategy if they were market leaders, but for a niche brand it'll just hurt their sales.

If they were better at matching what most people want in a phone for a given price, they would've had much better sales numbers.

My 5iii I think was manufactured in Vietnam, no doubt with exploited child labor. There are many reasons I wait until my phone becomes unreliable, not just sluggish and certainly not just out of date before I buy new phones. My Seiko might actually be Japanese made.

Mr. Anonymous, 22 May 2024Sony's mobile department has been operating at a loss ... moreThey are very good phones with excellent designs just too expensive and limited to fewer and fewer countries. I expected them to abandon the U.S. since the 5 V was never released here.

Anonymous, 20 May 2024Got a xiaomi 12tpro. While Im not exactly thrilled with it,... moreSony's mobile department has been operating at a loss since quite a while, but their CEO still wants to keep it around while other departments are profitable enough to cover these losses.

man i wish this phone had a 120hz screen

blacknail, 21 May 2024I'm interested in this phone, but unfortunately I bet ... moreIn that case sony phones are the least Chinese phones on the market right now, as they don't manufacture their phones in China unlike any other company, which results in higher prices for the end consumer of course.

And the phone still Chinese parts in it, just less of them.

[deleted post]I'm interested in this phone, but unfortunately I bet that of course the majority of its parts were made in China, despite Sony being a japanese brand... almost everything is made in China, these days.

Only for the most dedicated and loyal Sony fans. Not a lot out there. Most others have moved on to better things.

Anonymous, 20 May 2024Got a xiaomi 12tpro. While Im not exactly thrilled with it,... moreYes, LG phones were better and had the features I bought the 5iii for but the wired audio quality was superior on the LG. I bought the 5iii because I needed a working phone and it still has expandable memory and a headphone jack but those are the only major features I bought it for. It's too small and narrow but fits well in my pocket. I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't on sale. It's been working fine. I like the design, too. It doesn't feel like a child's toy The price of these things, not only Sony, is absurd but, yes, Sony's extreme prices are ridiculous. Is moot now because they've left the U.S. market.

Sony needs to change to a 90htz refresh rate screen and a better 50mp main camera or better 12mp selfie camera.

Mr. Anonymous, 19 May 2024Xiaomi 13T is a much better device for the same price.Got a xiaomi 12tpro. While Im not exactly thrilled with it, it does the job day in day out. Hammered it for over a year charging 3x a day.. Only noticeable degradation is in gaming where I've maybe lost 30-60 min of gaming time. Standby still excellent. I don't miss the overheating of Sony phones, the dodgy speakers and mics in call, the super slow picture taking where you miss what you wanted to capture, the incredible price they try and charge when you can get a much better more modern designed equivalent.. Oh and back to the cameras.. It's amazing how other companies that use Sony hardware can get better performance out them than Sony can. Sony could have been Samsung but weird marketing and out of date hardware underperforms.. They can't even get average performance out of current hardware snapdragon 8 gen3. How Sony survives when LG died with better devices is a mystery.. Maybe those high prices and loyal fans is all that stands in the way of Sony mobile divisions downfall.. It's definitely coming if they carry on this path.

I'm using Xperia 10 IV (two gens older than this) as my daily and I absolutely adore it. The 9:21 display is great for showing a lot of stuff while keeping the device's side-to-side width narrow and easily one-hand-able; and the plastic shell has survived a lot of drops even without a case. I don't even have complaints about the 695, since I don't play games and the device is reasonably snappy once everything is loaded in the RAM. I also use the 3.5mm jack a lot for my moondrop iems, and the 60hz display doesn't bother me since I haven't used a device with 120 so I don't know what I'm missing.

My biggest complaint is the shutter speed of the default camera app. It takes some time to load in, and then it takes a while to actually snap the picture and save it - I've lost the moment so many times that it's more reliable to simply pull out the iPhone SE from my other pocket. I didn't see any complaints in the review so I hope that they fixed it.
