Wake me up when Google gives us real hardware, not recycled garbage for an inflated price, no UFS 4.0, a GPU half as powerful as a year old flagship, an NPU with no updates, underwhelming battery life and almost no camera updates. I can't believe that this thing gets a 4.4 out of 5.

Looks like another year on my 5 year old OnePlus 7 Pro with Lineage OS it is.

I don't see haptics mentioned in the review even though Pixel phones have one of the best haptics in the game. Yet the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a dedicated section just for haptics. What gives GSM?

Curved corners which i believe will make fixing glass screen protectors experience like hell
HyperOS optimizations seems going in a down slope which obvious in the battery life for i think all HyperOS released phones (think so)

and yes saw the Moto Edge 50 Neo and adored it as a first glance as it is loaded with needed features in a compact form (and a midranger)
however the SOC probably will be not in par and will be same ( or even weaker) than the current Edge 40 that i have (Dimensity 8020), I am waiting for the review in patience

after thorugh reviews on youtube and over the internet articles, I settled for Vanilla S24 (the snapdragon version imported (no warranty) from Asia Pacific including Google Services, Dual SIMs physical + Esim for any travel purpose though a major con of ridicolous 25W charging then the price) then saw some rumors for the S25 that it will use Snapdragon across all markets ( so though to wait till Dec/Jan cause it will be locally in the market ( Iam in UAE) then will have the warranty included plus a possibility on Screen damage warranty plus installement plans

so, this year you may look only on telephoto video to know if you need this phone. if low light video sample from telephoto cam is trashy (and for pixel it is) - you don't need this phone. it wouldn't be much of an upgrade (if at all) bout the camera.

It seems that in contrast to the Pixel 7 Pro with Google camera version 8, tapping on 10x doesn't set the zoom slider to 10.0x. It could be 9.9x, or 10.1x or 9.5x, etc. Only when you slide the zoom slider, it will stick to 10.0x. You only get 2.48 megapixel dng files at 10.0x, whereas the Pixel 7 Pro gives you 11.4 megapixel at 10.0x, if the light conditions are decent. Only when you use the 50 megapixel mode of the 9 Pro XL, you get 9.9 megapixel dng files at 10.0x, which still have slightly less detail than the 7 Pro.

I also tried the video boost "super res zoom" feature in the store. I recorded a 1s video of a distant sign at 20x. It took maybe more than 10 minutes until the file was available in the cloud (it isn't downloaded automatically).
I think that the video boost zoom feature is mostly marketing. At 20x, you get less noise, but only a tiny bit more detail than in the default 20x video. It is oversharpened and there are also some strange artifacts. Some Youtubers show a huge difference, but they compare the video boost file with the initial video boost file, which is a Full HD video that is much worse than a default 4k video without video boost.
Moreover, a 30x photo mode video from my Pixel 7 Pro even seemed to show a tiny bit more detail from a distant object than the 20x video boost file of the 9 Pro XL and also looked more natural, though the 7 Pro was much noisier (light conditions in the store are not perfect).
I am not completely sure, but I guess that like the 10x-30x photos, the 9 Pro XL's video boost feature always uses analog binning at 20x. If that's really the case, then this is actually an anti resolution zoom and would explain why the 30x photo mode video of the Pixel 7 Pro had some advantages.

Never did i assume that a pixel phone will hold the title of world's brightest smartphone screen,Good job Google👌👌👌

You do get 50.1 megapixel dng files at 1x, so maybe the last time I tested it the zoom slider was maybe not exactly at 1.0x.
But nothing has changed at 10x. You only get 2.4 megapixel dng files at 10x, if you don't use the 50 megapixel mode.

I've had a couple Xiaomis and tested the Ultra 12, and would not buy another one. Software wise it's just not up to par, and the cameras take a different approach, but in my experience have not been that great. I view all my photos on a 75" OLED and both the iPhone and the Pixel photos look noticeably better. I haven't tested the 14 Ultra, but since GSMArena has been gushing over all Ultras, I am assuming I would still feel the same. Google generally significantly improves camera performance on the Pixels through software updates, so I have ordered a 9 Pro Ultra fairly confident that the camera will improve rapidly as over the next few months. I have not had a similar experience with my Chinese purchases.

I have a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and have had a Pixel 6 Pro and 7 Pro. I know my Google phones. When you are in regular photo mode at high res 50mp and zoom in 30 times the photo will be blurred. Also in high res mode 50mp taking a simple photo with any of the lenses at any times zoom you will have a significant delay. It is like you are in low light and must keep your phone still. It will pop up a bull's eye with a dot you need to keep centered. This is not good. If subjects are moving on a simple photo in this mode you get a blur. 50mp is a joke. After looking into the Pixel 8 pro this was a problem. If I had known about this I probably would have not bought this phone.

The video bost is a joke. It adds to your storage and if you ask Google AI if it trains its AI with your video it says yes. It takes FOREVER TO PROCESS and it is not really that much better.

Some good things. The overheating problem is much better. The finger sensor is better also. AI is faster than my Pixel 7 pro.

I decided to keep the phone and use my Canon camera for most of the shots my phone can not do. Very disappointed in 50 mp when Samsung can do 200 mp easily.

Does it have real stereo capabilities? Or is it more like a faux stereo? Are the stereo music channels easily distinguished, or not?
