Well damn, how I was wrong. I commented to one of the earlier articles that was about the sept 4th event that I'll eat my hat (or smth) if they actually release it on that day instead of doing the same mistake they did with V2, where it released 6 months later.

That plus they added water resistance, wireless charging and all that. Software really is the only downside of this device now and it's not even bad by any stretch, just not quite Samsung levels of polish. Although after using Fold5 for a long time, I don't use most of those fancy gimmicky polish features.

I also used a S24 ultra and will really miss the integrated S-pen, but thats something nobody else has. Not sure yet if Ill get the magic pen, as I already have my Surface Pro for most handwritten notes. The Magic pen seems a bit big to always carry in pocket.

But yeah, I caved and got a V3 on the way

But I agree with you, I'd take the F8 over F430, for different reasons. I'm no Sebastian Vettel, F430 would kill me in the 1st slippery corner due to its wild technology-free nature.

Mercedes and BMW might make great engines but they can't nail down the driving dynamics, as someone who's driven a cheap motorcycle and currently rides a Yamaha sportsbike, driving dynamics and driver engagement are indeed amazing selling points.

Naturally aspirated engines are great and all but I assure you, only 0.5% of actual millionaires want that. They just want something that's fast, looks good and drives well enough. Some reviewers describe the Huracan as a more brash driving whereas the Ferrari F8 still seduces them and they consider it to be like a ballet dance. The Audi R8 is a naturally aspirated V10, sounds beautiful, but still people are gonna love the Ferrari more I reckon. Driving dynamics just aren't easy to nail. Only "car guys" on youtube comments say they want a manual transmission, look at what they drive and you'll see a normal 3 series, Honda, Hyundai or something similar like a Camry. The Corolla GR is cheap, why don't they buy that?

Lighter cars are also more fun to drive than heavier cars, so there's that as well. The F8, even without the naturally aspirated engine, is better than the F430. A more apt comparison would be a Ferrari Enzo vs a Ferrari SF90. Besides, there's the 812 superfast for anyone who craves a Ferrari with a naturally aspirated engine. Maybe that's just me tho, idk.

jiyen235, 06 Sep 2024by consistent you mean they release the same thing over and... moreI understand the sentiment behind your statemen, but you've given a bad analogy here.
Most of the millionaires/car enthusiasts would chop their left arm to buy a naturally aspirated 500 HP manual transmission Ferrari in 2024.

A 2004 Yaris released for 2024 is a better comparison.

Anyways, here's a counterargument for you, no one's going to go for better repairability unless governments force them to, which governments aren't going to dare to do as these phone companies have a lot of power (like information about customers) or money, and so wouldn't you say that it's better to have unrepairable phones that are better to use than unrepairable phones that are extremely poor? Like, in terms of a value proposition I'd rather get the most for my money like this phone than the least for my money like the Z Fold6, that phone is more expensive still than the Magic V3 in my country, so yeah.

Also, about thinness, yes it is bad in terms of repairability, but i was just annoyed that you said it size changes don't make a big difference and are only for a difference in pockets. Yes, thinner phones feel better in pockets but they feel amazing in hand, and if you make a thinner phone they feel far better with a cover on, my phone feels even more like a brick even with the thinnest cover I could find.

I totally get why you want more repairable phones, but realistically speaking they're gone, and it's the fault of us, the consumers, as 95% of people are bots who stan companies and don't think anything is wrong. They eat up all the talking points of companies and reviewers without thinking critically. Louis Rossman made a cool vid on mkbhd and he just explained my thoughts better. I was growing more and more distrustful of online media/influencers since 2018, they've all become shills for the government or companies now.

Nearly all markets have gone downhill, instead of acting like we can fix them anymore, we just have to try to not make them any worse than they are now.

The ori... moreBy the way, I'm into phones since 1995 (yes, I've seen almost all and used many till now because I'm old). Not sure how old you are but I can say that I have owned more phones that normal people would own, just for the sake of using it, analysing it in all aspects. So, in short, I have used all sizes and formats (except for foiling phones as they are still a bit out of reach for me, money wise). Before making a statement about experience, you should think first as in "maybe that person has used such things, maybe not". I know it't hard for some people but try.

jiyen235, 06 Sep 2024that's one of the worst takes i've heard. The ori... moreHi, when I spoke about repair-ability I didn't have Samsung in mind (not at all in fact as indeed Samsung was as guilty as others in terms of repair-ability). It was a general statement that is more reality than exception and the thinner it gets the worse it is to access parts as everything is scrammed so tightly inside...basic physics.

atichko, 06 Sep 2024I don't get it, why must everything be either big, big... morethat's one of the worst takes i've heard. The original Z Fold was given a 2/10, the newer ones might get a 3/10 or 4/10 at best. Nice way to deflect genuine improvements cus your fav phone got dunked on.

Even Samsung is making a Special Edition, won't it be a 1/10 in terms of repairability then? Like what are you on about??

Also, if you haven't tried a range of phoenes you don't know what a thin phone actually feels like. I've tried a relative's Fold5 and it felt like a brick cus of it's thickness, I didn't mind the weight at all tho as I'm used to heavier phones.

No new phone apart from like the Fairphone or an HMD Phone is advocating for the right to repair. These companies are all trying to leech off of you, they're doing the bare minimum so as to not get sued but not doing enough so as to make it easy to repair phones. Quit being delusional.

Thinner, larger and lighter phones are better and it'd be cool if there's a smaller version for compact phone enjoyers one day too but that's it. You're just on maximum cope.

What bugs me the most about this device is that even though the inner screen have squareish aspect ratio, meaning every media you consume will probably have huge blackbars, they still put the selfie camera cutout in the middle.
Making sure whatever you are watching will have both huge blackbars and ugly cutout. 👏
                            Оtherwise great hardware.

This is the best foldable released so far and, by all accounts, better than the Z Fold 6. However, the review gives a feeling of pessimism as if the reviewer wasn't all that excited about the form factor. There was hardly any mention of the inner display, which is the most important part of the foldable. I understand that people may interact mostly with the outer display, but people buy foldables mostly because of the inner display.

I don't get it, why must everything be either big, bigger, biggest (screen estate) and slim, slimmer, slimmest? Because it's going to make such a big difference in your pocket? Don't let me laugh. With such overall sizes, it's not going to make that big of a difference. I would to see how iFixit is going to try to repair this thing. It will probably be a score of 0/10 meaning "just buy a new one if broken" because we care about e-waste and the planet (of course because we don't include a charger anymore and reduced the size of the retail box...that's going to save the planet indeed). The thinner the device, the harder it gets to handle it comfortably, especially when all is smooth and polished.

Unlike the fold 6 the outer screen can actually be used like a normal foldable. Yet still gets a 4.3 rating because it's not Samsung...

Also, people don't seem to realise that Honor does have a desktop mode like Samsung Dex, if you link it up with a monitor or tv
