Even this review site has it listed as a con. And buying something else does not change the fact that this one is below industry standard in that particular aspect, which does warrant some criticism.

Lister, 04 Oct 2024What amuses me the most is that Apple have to make money so... moreApple has surely taken all that into consideration when they set their profit margins, which are so high that even with the additional cost for a screen with 120hz refresh rate for their non-Plus flagships, they'd still very likely gain the most annual profit by far among all cellphone brands like always.

David 040882, 05 Oct 2024God knows I'm not one to "defend" Apple in a... moreI mean, If I were the one making the decision, then sure yeah I’d put a HRR display in all current iPhone models, more for the reason of being seen to keep pace with the competition than anything else other reason. And I can see a difference, but it’s not world altering for me either.
I have no problem with those feel they cannot live without a higher refresh display, it’s their preference and obviously they would be better served avoiding at least the non pro iPhones, like you said there are plenty of alternatives available. It’s when those people suggest nobody else can’t live without it I take exception.
As you say Apple will add it eventually, when they do many iPhone users will see the benefit, many will wonder what all the fuss was all about, and the rest will fall somewhere in between.

DaFink, 04 Oct 2024I’m sorry, somebody forcing you to buy the newest iPhone ar... moreI have a base 11. It's been 5 years, and from perspective of any other brand user, after this long time the difference between their phone and the new one tells them that it's time for upgrade. But why should I? The better soc means nothing if there is nothing challenging for old one, I mean except for games like genshin is there a game that does not run smoothly on 60hz? It's only Apple Intelligence and it's not available in EU! better battery life, a little better camera. OLED display (for better or worse) Does these two justify 5 years of R&D? It's not like people buy phones just for the sake of buying a new one.

DaFink, 05 Oct 2024On jeez 🤦♂️
Well if it’s robbery report it then, give t... moreGod knows I'm not one to "defend" Apple in any way, especially when it comes to iPhones. But I gotta agree that people are making somewhat too big of a deal from the 60Hz base iPhone models situation. I've lived for a long time with 60Hz on my phone, and when I made the switch to a more modern 120Hz-supporting smartphone, I really couldn't tell that much of a difference. Yeah, maybe if you look close enough, but I (and most consumers) can hardly see the difference in day-to-day use, and I don't think that it's something that should stop people from buying the base iPhones.
I still find it weird indeed that Apple hasn't yet added HRR to the base iPhones, and while it's definitely convenient to have 120Hz instead of 60Hz, I don't believe having 60Hz should be a deal breaker in any way, especially for the average Joe who doesn't care about the refresh rate of the screen, but rather on the Apple logo on the back. For those actually caring about HRR, go look somewhere else in the thousands of options out there, simple. In anyway, I'm sure Apple will eventually add 120Hz to the base iPhones, anytime from now.

Well if it’s robbery report it then, give that a try. I assume they have law enforcement in your neck of the woods right, go inform them that people are choosing to buy iPhones, see what happens……..
Be critical all you want, don’t buy iPhones as long as you want, it matters nothing to me. Again, my point was HRR is not that big of a deal for everyone, and that obviously many people will choose to buy the base iPhones based on a host of other reasons. Why is that so controversial on this dam site?

DaFink, 04 Oct 2024What a stupid comment, who’s breaking any laws here, ffs! 🤦... moreIt's highway robbery, plain and simple. Phones with less than half its price has it, so of course, that glaring ommission would be called out the most but for some reason, that bothers you so much that you even talk as if a certain group has no right to criticize that. 🤷♂️

DaFink, 04 Oct 2024What a stupid comment, who’s breaking any laws here, ffs! 🤦... moreWhat amuses me the most is that Apple have to make money somewhere for all the marketing and In-house development on their OWN Operating Systems, and no-one factors this in to the price, they just look at specs and think Apple just slaps parts together and puts them on sale. Android is a royalty free, open source OS, all they need is a licence for a few features. So yes, other manufacturers can afford to sell phones with higher specs.

And I’m not defending or gatekeeping anything, if Apple end up loosing sales due to lack of something like HRR display panels, oh well that’s their problem. Doesn’t seem to be happening though as far as I can tell.
All I am doing is pointing out what seems blatantly obvious to me but seems to baffle the rest of you, and that is HRR display are not the be all and end all for everyone on this dam planet!

xPandamon, 04 Oct 2024Man, aren't you starting to feel a bit embarrassed? Yo... moreWhy would I be embarrassed, I don’t build the things, and you don’t speak for others dude. People have their own reasons for either buying or not buying iPhone’s, and I highly doubt it all comes down to how fast the display refreshes.
All models are still selling regardless though, that’s just a fact, if it bothers you (and it seems like it does, for some reason), please know that I don’t give a flying you know what 🤷

You defend this year after year and with every year, the 60 Hertz display in iPhones is getting more sad. People don't miss things they never experienced, that's why these phones sell. It's like someone driving a Lada, with the difference that Lada's are very cheap cars while an iPhone is absurdly expensive for the specs given. Once those people drive a western car, they will mever go back. Same with people going from a crappy non-Pro iPhone to the Pro models.

If you never had more you don't miss it, but that doesn't make it any better. Apple is pushing years old technology while having higher asking prices than the rest. It's just sad at this point.
