Dissapointing generation, 4k120 is more a gimmick on such small sensor, and button isn't reliable.
Image quality and noise performance comparing to flagship vivo, oppo or even xiaomi is far behind. Iphone pro sensor except main are super tiny compared to rivals, like a budget device.
Best features in new iphone are support w JpgXL and more options in editing, which could be an update to iOS.

The base 16 is the closest in years to having the pro features - you get 99% the same processor as the pro (1 less GPu core); you get the camera control, same display pixels, wind noise microphones, same cameras minus 5x zoom which isn’t a big deal for everyone, etc. So I would say getting the base or “vanilla” gives you the same pro experience if you can live without 120hz, which a lot of people don’t care about

And if you look on Dxomark or display Mate or any panel testing sites, the iPhone displays are rated the highest along with Samsung for color accuracy, gamut , brightness , etc. If you’re talking about “yellow” or warmness, the iPhone has a True Tone setting which can be turned off so that you can adjust the white balance to your own taste. You would not be able to even discern from a webpage how the display looks in real life regardless.

        So we're now paying an extra $200 (possibly more) for just an increase in battery capacity and screen size. It seems to me that they're trying to make the pro more and more like the pro max, thereby widening the gap between the pro and the vanilla. For what purpose?
        If they're making the pro better, why can't they do that too with the vanilla?

          When they said that Samsung disqualified themselves, does that mean that they're way better or way worse?

            Congratulations, Apple! You now hold the record for the slowest charging speed in 2024!

                  To give due credit, it's commendable how Apple managed to keep this non-Max Pro at this size. Just from the side by side photo with the Pixel 9 Pro in the Competition section of the article, it clearly looks smaller and from the rest of the review, it's more powerful while also lasting longer. Google is simply unable to compete and in some markets, they literally don't even try to.

                              Darth Caesium, 04 Oct 2024The wait for the Oppo Find X7 Ultra review was absolutely c... moreyeah exactly, I'd lost faith 2-3 years ago and i just read the reviews for the sake of it now lol, i trust smaller tech creators more as they have less bias and just feel more real.

                                iPhone's new Photographic Style is quite underappreciated because it allows you to:

                                1) Change the overall colour balance of the photos without affecting the skin tone,
                                2) Change the tonemapping during the preview, which is only what Pixel has been able to do using the Dual Exposure slider,
                                3) Possibly the biggest advantage over other manufacturers' implementations - Apply these changes AFTER taking a photo because each image file contains metadata that essentially allows you to redo and undo the editing in the post without significant loss in quality.

                                I like how nowadays smartphone manufacturers are now giving people more control over how the final image looks without compromising the image quality consistency in auto mode. Vivo's Zeiss Colours, Oppo's Master Mode, Xiaomi's Leica modes and presets, and now Apple's new granular Photographic Styles.. Now all we need is a larger (possibly MFT) sensor for the main camera.

It is a missed opportunity for them to not have talked about it, but at the same time, it's got limited availability and is overpriced, so I don't blame them for forgetting. I do suspect though that the Vivo X200 Mini will be a great product that directly completes with the iPhone 16 Pro once it releases (assuming they didn't cut back on its specs compared to the Vivo X200 Pro, which some people are convinced will be the case with this phone).

The worst part, is that I noticed a bunch of other issues that seemed to start happening in 2024, and I think the site is potentially going to become worse slowly over time. The spec inconsistencies between the specs page and the review page is quite jarring; I have no clue why they haven't listed the camera sensors for each camera module if they're now mentioned in the review; some reviews seem obviously rigged because they've got early review samples and they're giving good reviews for a phone that's obviously terrible (*cough* *cough* the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra *cough* *cough*); and the chat filter that's only become more and more censorious. These are just a few of the many new problems on this site, which is sad to see when it's an absolutely amazing database of phones and phone reviews that no other site can rival to anywhere close to the same degree.

It doesn't have ultrawide with autofocus, 100 x zoom, UWB etc. It has less RAM and charging speed, and even the chipstet is different in many markets. But Iphone 16 Pro is really the Apple´s flagship in a small size, and better than Galaxy S24 in many ways.
