*1/5 - Extremely Disappointed with Vivo V40*
I'm writing this review as a warning to others after experiencing a nightmare with my Vivo V40, purchased less than a month ago. The device has been plagued with terrible issues, making it unusable.
*Major Issues:*
1. *Overheating*: The phone heats up excessively, even with minimal usage.
2. *Random Reboots*: The device switches on and off repeatedly, disrupting my work and conversations.
3. *Fingerprint Failure*: The fingerprint sensor has stopped working altogether.
4. *Speaker Malfunction*: The speakers crackle and produce distorted sound.
5. *Display Damage*: The screen has developed scratches and cracks, despite careful handling.
*Expected More from Vivo*
Considering the brand's reputation and the price point, I expected a seamless experience. Instead, I've been left frustrated and disappointed. The frequency and severity of these issues suggest a manufacturing defect or quality control failure.
*Requesting Assistance*
I urge Vivo's customer support team to take immediate action and provide a suitable resolution, such as a replacement or refund. I hope the company will take steps to address these issues and ensure better quality products in the future.
I hope Vivo takes my complaint seriously and resolves the issue promptly.

Wait, so is nobody concerned that the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ (china-only right now, but we'll get this treatment too!) uses UFS 2.2 for the base storage?
I will never use up 512GB and as such don't see reasons to overpay for it, but each year phone manufacturers just find the craziest things to cut costs on.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2024Congrats! Both models suck due to lack of essential featur... moreSD card is nice, but not necessary for me. Jack would be great. But with aptx lossless codec I can try to live without it. I prefer OLED over IPS on smartphones. Usually after three years or so there are only minor signs of burning and I can live with that. Besides the panel of Edge 50 Pro is very well calibrated.

Both models suck due to lack of essential features (no audio jack , no sd card slot, no IPS LCD screen etc...) but at least Motorola will allow you to unlock the bootloader and therefore root the device or even install custom ROM. I strongly doubt that vivo will allow you to unlock bootloader just like that.

babar91k, 11 Oct 2024I don't understand why it got 4.2 For me it's 4.... moreThat coz of the limitations on the video aspect, I mean it's only capped at 4k-30 & the selfie recording is missing on OIS which results in shitty outcome... Overly priced.

Excellent aesthetic design camera and gaming phone. Solid mid-ranger Vivo V40 Pro 5G has built-in camera filters from Zeiss with multi-focal portrait and Aura light. Three 50MP main, ultrawide & selfie cameras with OIS. It can record in 4K at 30fps with the front camera and back camera. It can zoom up to 20x. It has a zoom button for 24mm, 35mm and 50mm. AMOLED screen 120 Hz HDR 10+. Dual stereo speakers. 5,500 mAh battery.

So I bought the Motorola Edge 50 Pro instead. Same price, more memory, telephoto, wireless charging, aptx wireless, and hopefully a bit better display. Main camera will be a bit worse though and Motorola is terrible with system updates.

-... moreIf the CPU is VERY slow then you have a point, but a modern midrange processor can benefit a lot from UFS 3.1. Samsung A55 is a good example. It has UFS 3.1, and the difference is notable. Opening apps, switching between, and the whole usage experience feels notably faster and smoother. I had tried the A54 in the past and it wasn't nowhere near that snappy.
Storage and memory have a huge impact on how snappy a phone feels in day to day tasks. Higher impact than the actual CPU in my opinion, once you go past a certain performance point.

With prices close to Vivo X100 & even Xiaomi 13 Ultra with it's reduced price, it's hard to consider V40 & V40 Pro especially when it comes to the camera performance.

Even this modest Vivo model seems to produce better photographs than the highest tier products of some major brands.
