Anonymous, 14 Oct 2024These samples are just background blur.
There is no macro... moreHoney, I have already explained to you:
1) What it means to have a 'macro' lens,
2) How Sony and Vivo officially state the magnification ratios of their respective flagships, thereby confirming their macro capabilities.
Again, nobody in this world cares what you think macro should mean. The numbers are there but you're choosing to ignore them, and that's just your problem.
Sony 90mm F2.8 Macro lens has a minimum focusing distance of 28cm. If you attach that to a 12MP full frame camera, say a7SIII, you would not be able to get magnify the subject as much as X200 Pro or Xperia VI. The only reason why many macro photos look impressively close to the subject is that a photographer uses a super high resolution sensor and sometimes pixel shift to maximise the resolution then crop them hard in post. Why do I know that, because I myself have taken such photos many times in the past!
It's time for you to be humble and admit that you still have a lot of things to learn😉

I think I’ll stick to my 1 incher X100 Pro. You can’t beat physics with marketing gimmicks and small tech improvements. But I do hope in the future they release the Ultra as global version.

There is no macro.
You would get same photo using the 23mm.
Fanboys of vivo, oppo, xiaomi and huawei are so creative in making excuses.
Should be writing movies.

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2024Damn, Vivo upped their game. Exciting times for smartphones... morePersonally, it's the X200 Pro mini (an awful name) vs the Xiaomi 15.
Xiaomi needs to do better, if not. Nope, thanks .

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2024If those samples were macro, eye of the frog would take hal... moreThat's not how it works. Magnification ratio is just a maximum ratio of the size of a subject projected onto the sensor relative to the sensor size.
Xperia 1 VI has a magnification ratio of 2:1 when the telephoto lens is set at 120mm. X100 Ultra has 3.4:1 for its 85mm telephoto lens, both numbers have been officially confirmed. Anything larger than 1:2 is a half macro and beyond 1:1 is a proper macro.
You don't get to decide what is macro and what is not.

For people who say it's main is a downgrade it's not this sensor has double stack transistor layout (essentially captures much more light than a comparable sized sensor)

I was sooo wrong, the blue color is excellent in real life photos, the promo shots are ugly. This is stunning!
The telephoto is excellent, just like the X100 Ultra. The UW cam is ok, i just hate that the main cam got downgraded technically. The photos are extremely nice still and look quite mature, so Vivo's V3+ chip is doing some heavy lifting but i wonder if a 1 incher would've been better. The main cam is technically worse than the Xiaomi 14 Pro, that phone has both a variable aperture AND a wider aperture at the same sensor size, so yeah Vivo DEFINITELY could've done better. They took away the 1 incher but should've given a variable aperture to compensate. Oh well, trying to upsell the X200 Ultra ig.
The selfie cam is the same as before as well, not that great considering it's still not taking binned down shots. The video looks fine on the main and telephoto cams and poor on the UW cam, the next phones desperately need a UW cam upgrade.
The first and third portrait shots look nice, the 2nd one looks AI generated. BUT WOAH that dude is JACKED!

nice
this phone will fill the shoes of Xiaomi 15 Pro since that won't likely be launched outside China.
