Regarding camera variation:
GSM Arena didn't test 100.000 units from different production batches from different regions. That is a reality you have to be aware of.
I can only doubt that the difference in quality is due to the Chinese version being Grade A, and rest of the world Grade B. It could be, but not with just one random sample comparison, it's a double edge sword to draw any meaningful scientific conclusions.
I think one would be surprised if same test was conducted between different batches of other manufacturers, namely Samsung Galaxy Ultra / Xiaomi/ Ultra / iPhone Pro etc. because QC varies, assuming same firmware and software updates.
Lens quality is the key in the chain, then comes the sensor (which is analogue device in the front stage!), and finally DSP. To draw a definitive conclusion you need a larger sample and span across time to be certain.

CamoGeko-XDA, 08 Nov 2024This is the phone to buy if you just want a camera attached... moreTold my son to buy the X200 Pro cause it will suit him more for his work & social media postings. Both me & wife using the Xiaomi 13U & 14U for more artistic shots which we are more accustomed to. Ever since we got the Xiaomi, we found ourselves rely more & more on the phone & only use our DSLR for serious work. Our last year holiday trip was the first time we left home without our heavy DSLR or the smaller m4/3 cameras. The x200 pro is indeed a good all rounder camera phone for day to day photos with good battery life which the Xiaomi lacks.

Ottonis, 10 Jan 2025Being a camera aficionado myself I came to realize this ove... moreSome nice anecdotes and totally agree!
Another thing I should have mentioned is large sensor size = huge camera ring. The Vivo and upcoming Xiaomi are very chunky phones when you factor in the cam ring. It also increases weight, not least as it requires more optics.
Ergonomically, it just isn't nice and yet the scenario you describe is precisely why manufacturers are now going back to smaller sensor sizes. It's overkill for those who don't know how to work a camera (phone) properly; and not good enough for those who do. So a middle-ground is optimal.
Smaller sensor size means a more svelte and lighter device, which is good for ergonomics. A good example would be the Oppo Find X8 Pro, which is about at the limit for camera ring thickness vs ergonomics; then you have the VIVO X200 Pro which has better sensors, marginally better IQ at 100% zoom (who cares?), but a more bulky, obnoxious camera ring.
So the middle-ground with the latest tech is the logical outcome, and that is what we have across flagships for most devices. Apple and Samsung as market leaders know this, which is why they wouldn't use large sensors. It would mean a huge camera ring, and a bulky, heavy device.
Having the very pinnacle of mobile photography isn't the priority of most consumers.
If it is, they have a dedicated camera.

Vanilla, 10 Jan 2025Exactly. I find it both childish and brainless that so many... moreBeing a camera aficionado myself I came to realize this over time. Currently, I am using an old flagship cameraphone, which was released in 2018, which in terms of smartphone development is an eternity. And while it does have a main sensor of "only" 1/1.56" and a small-ish sensor behind the 3x lens it still makes terrific photos. I do take quite a lot of photos at parties and events with that device and share them with lots of other people over whatsapp and they all tell me "Wow, your phone makes such great photos".
The catch point here is, that many if not most of these people who rave over my photos, do own the latest and greatest iPhones and Samsung Galaxy Ultra phones, which are technically far superior to my phone.
There are two lessons behind this:
1. Knowing how to use even ab outdated camera with subpar hardware and processing capabilities can still lead to better photos than much newer and superior devices will take when not used optimally.
2. The hardware differences really do not have that much of an impact. We are talking here about a gap of 6-7 phone generations and yet people believe that my cameraphone is better than theirs.

Ottonis, 09 Jan 2025Which review do you refer to? This review here undoubtedly ... moreExactly. I find it both childish and brainless that so many are obsessed with the very BEST specs. Unless such commenters are teenagers of course. Then I get it. Playground bragging rights.
Between all the flagships of those phone brands you mention, camera quality is much-of-a-muchness especially where 99% of consumers only upload their photos to social media - which automatically crops and downsamples; or keeps them permanently on a small screen device - where even the highest res screens can only physically display 2.5m pixels... There are 12m pixels in a 12mp image. Any imperfections are hidden by mere laws of physics meaning image quality would be indistinguishable on the same screen.
As for this move away from 1" sensors, which has also seen a lot of manchildren crying, it's a good thing. Such sensor size limits zoom capability, since there is only so much physical space inside a smartphone where larger sensor requires a bigger lens (laws of physics again). Building a brick simply won't sell.
Plus with stacked sensors and AI processing, such sensor size is no longer needed. You can get "as good" image quality with a smaller sensor.
And finally, to my other point, manufacturers know 99% of consumers only ever share photos to their social media or keep them on their small-screen device. So there's simply no need for 1" or larger sensors because no one even needs it. This also keeps device costs lower - another good thing.
If anyone is serious about photography, they should buy a dedicated full frame camera and forget their silly smartphone.

babar91k, 09 Jan 2025I dont know why gsm is so biased always praising shamesung ... moreWhich review do you refer to? This review here undoubtedly praises the camera-performance of the X200pro. So, where's the problem?
People need to understand that nowadays, all these cameraphone-flagships are all incredibly good at taking photos. The differences between Xiaomi, Samsung, Apple, Vivo, Huawi, Honor etc are minuscule and usually become apparent only when pixel-peeping at like 100-200%.
