Inedian, 21 Nov 2024Those who look for camera, no chance... Vivo X200 Pro easily. But with vivo's software. Hmmmm
Vivo's software is a bad ass.
If you don't know oppo's software is way better than vivo and maybe that's why it is pricier. You pay extra for a better software.

A "pro" level phone in late 2024 (almost 2025) that still uses an optical fp sensor that has to be placed so low on the screen because it is too thick to be placed higher which means it would be above the battery (not enough space) - thanks but no thanks.

PeterC77, 21 Nov 2024UK price £1049. Gonna have to think about that. And a £10 voucher for signing up to their newsletter seems so stingy when the price is £1049. Hard to convince myself it is worth £500 more than a oneplus 12.

Nick Tegrataker, 21 Nov 2024Not only that, but GSMA's new photo testing site is si... moreFunny thing is, the studio test chart comparison would've been more or less unaffected by moving to a new location, with similar lighting in a room at least

im sorry guys but the new test site not only isn't that challenging but it is pretty alienating coming from the past sites. So it feels weird but still not cool to look at the samples, not worth the change.

Anyways, it seems Oppo's tuned the gaming battery cus WOAH that's SUPER impressive. And it also seems like BOE's panels are not as efficient as Samsung's ones cus the GT7 Pro nukes both the X200 Pro and the X8 Pro. I wonder though, why is Oppo SO conservative with the brightness?

Surprisingly the most disappointing aspect of this phone are the cameras lol it's funny that the GT7 Pro has more natural looking shots

Kevlar, 21 Nov 2024I miss the snail photo example, it was very useful to compa... moreNot only that, but GSMA's new photo testing site is simply so much worse compared to their previous one.

The fact that we no longer get that balcony scene, whose white dotted patterns were extremely useful for comparing the lens' ability to resolve details and the ability of the phone's image processing to handle small patterned textures while suppressing false colours and moire, is such a disappointment.

The old hotel scene at night was great for comparing how phones handle details in shadows in a very poorly lit environment, too. All we have now is a bunch of nighttime cityscapes, which is a good test for HDR processing, but for a phone's noise reduction algorithms, reducing noises from bricks and tiles on buildings is nowhere near as hard as doing the same from grass and leaves on the ground.

We are already having a hard time seeing any meaningful difference between the main cameras of Find X8 Pro and X200 Pro because their new shooting site doesn't show any kind of unusual details that most phones struggle to resolve. Like, what are we even trying to compare here? Any phones that pack at least half-decent image processing have been acing these scenes, heck, even the recently-reviewed ROG Phone 9 and Edge 50 didn't have any issues handling them whatsoever.

GSMA's articles keep putting less and less emphasis on smartphone cameras - They deprecated the studio camera comparison tool last year, and are now eliminating the usefulness of their real-life photo samples as well. It's almost as if they don't understand why people have been rating this site so highly for their smartphone camera reviews. Their downfall is just sad to watch.

It's just not the same without the clock and balcony photo samples. The removing of the indoor photo lab/test chart for 2023 reviews was already painful, now how are we supposed to compare daytime results with phones before?

UK price £1049. Gonna have to think about that.

I miss the snail photo example, it was very useful to compare the same picture :(
I found it to be one of the best things to judge "oil painting" effect by.

The X8 isn't bad but it isn't near perfect there are still other phones out there that might be near perfect like the honor magic 7 pro and OnePlus 13 (the OnePlus isn't that near perfect also but it's still a good alternative)

That's why I'd pick this one.

'The Xiaomi's got a big battery too, the Snapdragon Elite could be a point in its favor, and maybe a case could be made for its flat display.'

Gsmarena. The Xiaomi 15 pro has a micro curved display similar to the find x8 pro. In fact the curves are slightly more pronounced on the Xiaomi 15 pro

As someone who has used most major brands including Apple, i will say that ColorOs (as same as OxygenOs) is the smoothest on par with iOS and arguably the least bugged software (in my experience of course). But in features and customisation, OneUI is still the best in my opinion.

Also the most important reason is brand loyalty. You will be shocked what brand loyalty can do to a person. Even when device B is 1000 times better than device A, a person with a brand loyalty will still see option A as a better devices 🤷‍♂️

I'm curious to see if anyone would pick this over the vivo X200 Pro and if so, why
