Anonymous, 29 Dec 2024It's EMUI but basically EMUI and HarmonyOS are the sam... moreTheir aesthetics are basically the same but HarmonyOS is way more refined when it comes to how smooth it is in my experience. I've used an EMUI P40 Pro and a HarmonyOS P50 Pro and that was probably the biggest difference between them.

the simplest $100 android appears like a marvel in comparison

The more exposure Huawei foldables get, the less control they will have over reviews and user experiences. They've benefited from being in Samsung's shadow.

The original Z was supposed to be released April of 2019. MKBHD damaged the phone pulling the SP and it all went downhill. At the time the Mate X was due a little before summer of 2019. Huawei had an open lane to be the first(excluding the flex pai) to release a foldable. Nobody was sure what Samsng was doing. Yet, the Mate X was also delayed and it was likely due to durability issues as well. The difference was Huawei never put their phones in the hands of users to test.

Right from the start they were able to avoid any negative news while Samsung was getting killed in the media and everyone was cancelling their Z pre-orders. The Mate X was then released later in Sep. or Nov. and it was a low-key release. Most people didn't even realize it was out until they re-released it in December with a different chipset and updated body materials.

No foldable gets more exposure when something bad happens like Samsung. That's why Samsung is the leader. If Huawei wants to lead, they are going to have to embrace the good with the bad.

The chip performs surprisingly well, all things considered. Looking forward to what they'll release next.

Guys... Iphone isn't in the list.

Funny how this got a 4.1 rating even though there's more cons on the list.

Also, the Kirin 9020 isn't even at the already-bad Tensor G4 levels. Yeah, I know Huawei has been banned and this is good progress, but this is literally 2500 SGD. It can't be that high.

Just get an Honor Magic V3 instead, it's far cheaper and is just better.

Hanif Fikri, 29 Dec 2024I heard the latest harmonyos are still using Android coding... moreBuyers in China have a choice of the phone running either HarmonyOS (Android) or HarmonyOS Next (Not Android).

              Everyone else just EMUI (Android).

Still no proper app support, still not HD or HDR streaming, still using a midrange chipset, mediocre battery life, not sure if nfc payment works or not, way too overpriced...so easy NO

Hanif Fikri, 29 Dec 2024I heard the latest harmonyos are still using Android coding... moreUntil Harmony OS NEXT, all versions have android core.
Difference between Harmony OS 4 and EMUI 14 and previous ones, is some minor differences, like some changes in the names of the features.

[deleted post]As long as this site is free of charge and accessible for all people around the globe, I doubt it though. I understand what you feel, it looks like riots and full of demonstran who demanding high spec devices but price ignorant. It is better for you to get rid of this 'chatting room' and focus on other aspects provided by this GSMArena official site. There are still nice articles available to go through. Anyway your opinion in this room may benefit others, to strengthen people confidence to choose the right smartphone for them.

This phone shouldn't have got more than a 4.0 score, considering the poor battery life, half baked OS, and poor performance.

I heard the latest harmonyos are still using Android codings and some other says it's full homemade OS...which one is right..

ShaneKR, 29 Dec 2024So Is this phone harmony os or emui because in the huawei&#... moreHuawei phones released in China run HarmonyOS and phones released in other places run EMUI. Still don't know why they did that because neither EMUI or HarmonyOS have Google services. Both are compatible with Android apps.

HarmonyOS Next is the new Huawei proprietary operating system that is not compatible with Android apps.

There are highlighted things that out of my sight in my earlier comment for this model. The things are the support for the screen layer made of Carbon Fiber that is famous in Formula 1 car technology which is capable to prolong the screen after numeruos flip-unflip activities along with the most recent Silicon Carbon battery technology since it has been forced to achieve the fastest possible charging time.

An interesting and bold step that Huawei took on the processor. They introduced Kirin as the core for its device instead of common chipsets in the market. GSMArena has conducted a test to it and it seems it passed the test already as GSMArena didn't raise on it any negative wording. I am seeking it become a great rival over Mediatek or even Snapdragon in the future and provide budget friendly chipset alternative. As for chipset developed by Samsung, I believe Exynos won't allow its chipset will be easily relegated. For me, the intriguing matter about processor is it rarely comes with equal clock speed on all cores where it absolutely can increase the performance stability.

ShaneKR, 29 Dec 2024But emui is android and harmonyos is not right? No, EMUI is absolutely different thing from HarmonyOS. HarmonyOS is Chinese self-developed OS and EMUI is an Android skin just like OneUI, OxygenOS, HyperOS and etc. Because, HarmonyOS uses HongMeng Kernel, not Linux kernel.
