unxpctd, 18 Feb 2025"The new OV50K40 is the first smartphone image sensor ... moreThe magic 6 porsche also use a different OV50K than the OV50H and it does worse in lowlight. No guarantee the magic 7 pro OV50K40 will do better this time round
The fact Honor or them choosing not to publish samples this time is telling

jiyen235, 17 Feb 2025they had a similar small review for the Magic 6 RSR too lolThey did, but it was only an extended comparison to its mass-market sibling, instead of a complete review from scratch. The Galaxy S25 series had complete reviews instead of mere comparisons to its previous iterations that aren't that different from the model reviewed.

vik457, 17 Feb 2025Main cam sensor is ov50k vs ov50h in magic7 pro."The new OV50K40 is the first smartphone image sensor with TheiaCel™ technology, which harnesses the capabilities of lateral overflow integration capacitors (LOFIC) to provide the best-in-class single-exposure high dynamic range (HDR) regardless of lighting conditions. The OV50K40 CMOS image sensor achieves human eye-level HDR with single exposure in standard mode, setting a high-performance bar for flagship rear-facing main cameras."
Even more reason why we need samples.
This website only exists to drool over SamPle (Samsung/Apple) products now. I know there isn't money to made in phone news anymore, but damn. This is sad to see.

jiyen235, 17 Feb 2025they had a similar small review for the Magic 6 RSR too lolThey at least dared to put up photo comparison for that, Honor must have told them not to for this 7 because it's only a "paper" improvement and a minor one

The camera performance is exacly what I was interested in, the rest is pretty slef-explanatory from the specs. Thank you for the review though and please, please do an add on for the camera.

jiyen235, 17 Feb 2025THIS is what the Magic7 Pro should've been. With this ... moreOne thing to notice: this is the first time they had actually cared to review the RSR variant, and all because they got a unit for free. Lol.

Honor that sold by Huawei to other in 2020, now look like it's a fake deal, it's just a deal to deceive US law to avoid United States sanctions that will cause big impact on Huawei.
Currently Honor CEO George Zhao has retire from his position and a former Huawei executive, has been appointed as Zhao's successor at Honor, how convenient, don't anyone think so?

I'd have liked a dedicated camera section instead of a link to a completely different review

Anonymous, 17 Feb 2025Why does the Pixel 9 blow everyone out of the water on max ... more1500-1700 nits is planty enough and really a sweet spot for majority of displays.
When you look performance/price ratio Google is just mediocre so they went like: "Look at our shiny display" just to justify the price.

"The photo and video capabilities and quality remain the same as on the Honor Magic7 Pro, despite the couple of improvements outlined above. If you are eager to explore the camera - you can read more about it here, in our Honor Magic7 Pro review."
Is that a joke? The periscope camera is a totally different one, it's the smartphone camera with the largest effective diameter on the market. This reduces diffraction (so a better theoretical resolution of the lens regarding distant objects), leads to more background blur and leads to more light per time from distant objects.
I eagerly waited for this review in order to see camera sample images with the exif data (including the focal length) of the periscope camera, extremely disappointed!

Why does the Pixel 9 blow everyone out of the water on max display brightness? Seems these really pricey phones should at least be able to temporarily top 2000nits but this doesn't even come close.
