Samsung Galaxy A56 review

finally an Exynos chip that isnt a hot hoover bag but what is with that massive chin of the screen? its 2025 and low tier 250$ phones have better screen ratio why is samsung doing this ?
and no WiFi 6E is just diabolical...no IP68 and no UFS 4.0 too.............500USD for 8/128 and 2021 tech is just bad man
why anyone would buy this when 14T series exists?

    The solution I'll bring is:
Samsung should get rid of once-original, now stereotypical A (short for Alpha, iykyk) naming, also the FE stuff under which it never was able to bring a product that appeals to the big crowds of fans in the intended way.
Instead, they should bring more use to Edge lineup and also add an additional Ace (inferior to Edge) naming to S series by also abiding by the current design approach in these A36 and A56 and building on it because it's simple but pretty enough. These can be high-end smartphones with more room for experimenting (i.e. brand new camera sensors (from Sony or Samsung itself, even more thinness craze with first trial of TDDI technology, a new display technology) and chipsets such as Dimensity 8-series or Snapdragon 7/7+ series, or if they can't help but need to slap one in their smartphones, the Exynos 1-, not the top notch performance but satisfying enough to cater to those who cannot afford a flagship or not desire to have all configurations in a flagship for different kind of reasons.
I believe this strategy is worth considering even just a bit and it can be a game changer in terms of making others such as Xiaomi question their strategies in midranges and high-end smartphones as they also slowly start to be struggling with providing enough value for money.

Thank you all even if you didn't read it all and also for editors to share my opinions even if they will be received as utter trash or valueless by some folks.

I know it's extremely random to write this here but I got an urge strong enough to make someone hear it out before it self-destructs itself:
Current A series have some pluses such as a clean design and appealing colorways, even though it's largely bashed out here (even by me as well). But, previous A series smartphone (especially the iteration of the series in 2019 and 2020, the A80, A81, A91, just to name a few) had bigger promises in creativity and usability. However, the releases've been getting more and more obsolete after the launch of A52s, whose price for value Samsung hasn't able to surpass yet. You know, there have been news coming out recently that Samsung wants to abandon Galaxy branding for midrange and low-end smartphones and they have my back if they ever really do it one day but they should not let the spirit of A series totally disappear in the thin air.

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2025From now on, you'll have to get used to buying the S24... moreIf what you say is true, noone would have objected.

But you are far away from proper math.
A series has always been released for 450-480, true, but shortly after it was going to 300-320 euro.
FE was released for how much?600+?
Now we're like 1 generation later, 24fe is outdated and costs almost 500€.. e.g. far above a55 , which was in same generation and available for 300.

So get your facts. FE is 50% overpriced A series.

Nik, 23 Mar 2025A55 and s24 fe have 25w charger but less charging time than... moreThe 45w on the A56 only works at early stage of charging and slows down significantly as it nears 100%. Not sure why Samsung feel the need to handicap the charging speed but I guess advertising the "45W charging over 25W on older models" is more important because the A56 really is just very small upgrade over the A55

Real world performance and user experience matter more than benchmarks.

It's high time Samsung brings back the telephoto on mid-rangers, after it disappeared together with the Galaxy A72.

Seeing the battery life on gaming is a no here, though the rest are geat i would say

the s24fe gets bypass charging, which is a very big deal for some users like me. e1480 -> e1580 is a very big step up in terms of gpu power however, pretty cool to see (even if it does pale in comparison to 7+g3, it does compete well with the 7g3)
its honestly a shame reviewers dont mention bypass charging properly, and at most just write it off as "the same thing as setting a charge limit" when theres a massive chasm between the two things.

stalha97, 22 Mar 2025Hey guys, what do you recommend between A56 and Oppo Reno 1... moreI'm also wondering which is better between A56 and Reno 13. For me the Reno is about $70 more but I think it's lighter , slimmer and has better battery and charging speed and a better chipset so I am thinking I'll probably get that. Anyone else agree?

MidrangerPhones, 22 Mar 2025Consider the Xiaomi 14T It has: -Excelent display 144 Hz... moreMy biggest gripe with the Xiaomi 14T is that the main camera suffers from focus hunting while recording videos. Which is a deal breaker for a $370 camera focused phone.

It's disappointing since the rest of the 14T is very solid and
it still trumps the A56 by a good mile. Oh well, guess you can't expect perfection in anything.

"The virtual proximity sensor for turning off the screen during calls is not as good as a physical one."

This is exactly why I haven't upgraded from my A14. All the new mid rangers since A15, A16 until this A56 has THIS problem. Why can't Samsung just give us a proximity sensor?

Luke, 22 Mar 2025Of course it does. If last year model is already produced a... moreFrom now on, you'll have to get used to buying the S24FE for ten euros more than the A56. The S25E for ten euros more than the A57, and so on. With your magnificent logic, they'll have tons of A56s on their hands in a year's time and will have to sell them for less than 300 euros, if not 250 (which will compete with the future A27s and A37s), that's a net loss of value.

Barry Egan, 23 Mar 20254 stars for this pathetic device????? seriously?¿-4 is what actually i see.

And so much for its 4.0 rating. At the moment, Realme GT 6T costs 599 SGD compared to 658, both of which are 12+256. It has LTPO, much better performance, UFS 4. Camera doesn't seem to be the winning factor of A56 anymore either - the only reason I wouldn't pick GT 6T is because of the 3d curved screen, and that it has only 2 more OS updates and 3 year security updates left.

Which moves on to another superior alternative: OnePlus Nord 4. Also 539 SGD for 12+256. You also get a lot of AI features, and even a metal back. It also has 3 more OS updates and 5 more years of security updates left. It has all, but Circle To Search because of stingy Oneplus limiting it to the 12R.

There's also Reno13, if you do care about Circle To Search for 699 SGD, with better selfie camera of 50MP, at the cost of only 3 OS updates and 4 year security updates from Android 15.

The OnePlus Nord 4 seems to be the best one of all.

4 stars for this pathetic device????? seriously?¿
