By your logic, phones shouldn't even have buttons, speaker vents, microphone holes and USB Port. What kind of insane conclusion is that? Most rugged phones infact have all these ports.

Only 2 os updates and 3 year security updates? Quite disappointing - for such a phone, 3 Os updates and 4 year security updates is expected.

And it's cheaper with the same specs. I have the s24 Ultra , Pixel 8 pro and OnePlus 12. And it can compete with them all if not better.

Dumb noobs reply: oW bUt tHaTs A 4 YeAr OlD cHiPsEt!
Because of proliferation of these dumb noobs we've:
1. Lost headphone jacks and microSD card from almost all decent phones
2. Get rebranded 3 year old chipsets, often Samsung made
With these simpletons on the receiving end OEMs do whatever they want unchecked and get away with it

On my 50 Neo there is a slight pause. Yeah its there. I paid $350 for it. At this price range do you want flagship everything? Your getting a stylus, great screen, headphone jack AND expandable storage! Motorola is giving us everything for an affordable price. Yet you up in the forum nitpicking. Go back to the Apple pro Max $1500 forum sir. This forum is for the working man

Great review. Exactly what I thought it would be for this phone.
One can't expect miracles for an upper midrange phone. It delivers well though.
Not much to complain about.

Bob the web dev, 02 May 2025It's because it's cheaper to create phones with a... moreyou better stick to web development than engineering. Something as tiny as headphone jack isn't gonna have any significant impact on phone durability, there's no perceivable correlation between lack of headphone jack increased durability.
A headphone jack is placed at the shorter side of the phone and towards a corner, where chance of any crack being developed due to bending or impact stresses is quite minimal, to the point never observed in real life or even any durability test videos.
Other factors such as material, thickness, shape, fastening/adhesion etc have tangible impacts on durability, headphone jack has no tangible impact.
I've seen phones failing bend tests where buttons (and sometimes SIM and/or MicroSD slots) are placed, that is at the middle of the longer side. That's why placing SIM and/or MicroSD slots on the shorter end towards a side is a better idea. As for buttons, offsetting them a bit away from the center AND adding internal reinforcement is the solution. However none of these is the case with headphone jack.
Using USB C port as headphone output leads to overuse, which will make it fail earlier. Not a good idea.
Fun fact : Samsung's most durable phone not only has headphone jack and not only microSD card, but also a removable battery.

Phone Arena review also says the battery life is shorter than 2024 so there seems to be a problem

Terrible battery life. May be due to poor optimisation or because of processor manufactured by SAMSUNG.

What the hell are they thinking, a POCO F2 PRO is wayyyu faster than this, it's a clown fiesta.
Buy the Poco X7 Pro instead.

Plus creates extra weak points on the device adding the port (prone to shattering etc more). Why the type C ports are the jack now (really don't get why People don't understand this lol) it's easier, cheaper and gives the phone more rigidity.
Not saying it's a good reason or the right one but that's basically why lol.

T0MI, 02 May 2025GSMArena battery tests are often questionable, so I wouldn&... moreNo, no it isn't anymore. Used to be before they updated it.
What else do you want, tells you the endurance of phone call (total), web (total) video (total) and gaming total with a median number for roughly what you'll get out of it (so basically a day of usage). I checked stats for the pixel 8 pro and it let me know roughly what I will get out of mine (I'm able to adjust things to know how to eek out more battery because of test).
Seems like Moto still has a few software based issues they need to sort out still then, it's a shame coz I remember when Moto were one of the big hitters, be nice to see them there again (seem to be offering decent valued devices with desktop support and other more unique features on even budget devices).

Say what you will about this phone good or bad but one thing is for certain, NO other OEM can ever say that they cannot fit a headphone jack in their phone! Here we have a phone that is no larger than many others, houses a rather large battery, has a silo for the pen, and STILL has room for a headphone jack! I wonder how they miraculously can do it when so many others say they can't??? Obviously ALL the others are simply lying so that you will buy their wireless buds! GREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GSMArena battery tests are often questionable, so I wouldn't make a conclusion just from that. However it is disappointing that this Moto - just like a lot of others - has a laggy, unresponsive camera app, it is such a slap in the face. You want to quickly capture a moment but you have to wait around 10-20 seconds for the camera to kinda-sorta work properly. If they figured it out this phone would be a great deal, it has everything the majority of users need.

Something is not alright here.
Maybe really bad optimizations from Motorola.

1800 nits in auto brightness is insane for a $400 phone and is better than the vast majority of flagships out there, but that battery life is straight up awful for the battery and SoC used. Not sure what went wrong here
