if width is more than 70mm, is it really comfortable to hold?

Basically a Galaxy S25 but with anorexia.

Wesker, 24 May 2025 What a disgrace. The "Edge" Moniker at Sams... moreS7 Edge was so good for the time. Probably the first time I felt that I could have kept a smartphone rather than upgrade after 2 years.

Wesker, 24 May 2025 What a disgrace. The "Edge" Moniker at Sams... moreYikes. Sounds like Samsung pushed someone to the edge.

            What a disgrace.

The "Edge" Moniker at Samsung refers to 4 devices. Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy S7.

The Note Edge was the experimental phase, the S6 was almost there and the S7 was peak Samsung. Theses devices were put on the map by their edgeless displays with bleeding edge tech onboard, hence the name. Not to mention the iconic design. So iconic that for many years, when people would think of Samsung, a Galaxy Edge would cross their mind.

So where does that leave us with the Galaxy S25 Edge, that revives the legendary name 9 years later ?

The edgeless display is gone, and so is the iconic shape. The camera island design, albeit seemingly new for the Galaxy S line, was introduced by OnePlus on some entry-level (Nord CE4 Lite) terminal last year. Plus, the element seems to be glued on the back plate rather that properly integrated into the design of the device. The crazy thin frame nobody asked for ? It will be cancelled by the inevitable case. Because, you know, people put cases on 4 figures brand new smartphones.

So it's neither distinctive, unique or iconic, unlike previous Galaxy Edge phones.

But maybe this S25 Edge makes up for that by packing bleeding edge tech on the inside, right ? Maybe it has a full size battery despite its thin chassis, thanks to some Si/C cell, allowing for equal capacity in a thinner volume. Maybe it has the same main camera as the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

It has neither. You'll get a very 2010s, 3900mAh battery with an awful battery life and movie-length charging. The main camera sensor (Samsung HP5) may have the same 200MP resolution as the S25 Ultra's (Samsung HP2) but has the same pixel size as the vanilla S25 (Samsung GN3). Misleading marketing at its finest.

This phone is neither iconic by its design or bleeding edge by its tech : it's not worthy of the Edge moniker.

It's the proof that the people at Samsung don't care about the legacy of the brand, or about making good products. Only profit matters.

The Galaxy Edge used to be the go-to device of the tech enthusiast, it's now the go-to device of the tech illiterate.

            What a disgrace.

The battery has adaptative function that makes it autonomy longer after a few weeks. Not to mention the many updates coming for battery and cameras. It can only get better.
Expecting a big step forward in that design trend with S26 Plus/Edge

S25 Edge is very light for it's size, but the base model has regular thickness and is nearly same weight.

S23 had a very stable battery life and stand-by no matter the use, also while the S25 works totally fine, the S23 had a bit less throttle issues too.

The thermal imaging was a nice touch. Don't afraid of trying new things GSMArena.

Get the S25 Ultra if you need more specific sensors.

This Edge is the only interesting large phone that finally isn't a brick. It fills a void no other flagship does.

A larger-capacity silicon-carbon battery would have been great, surely next time.

Thermal imaging was something these reviews were missing and it is a very appreciated thing. Keep the good work GSMArena team.
