floydb1982, 23 May 2025The S25 Edge should be able run longer on a 3,900 mAh batte... moreI would not be so sure about that. iPhone 16 Plus lasts 30% longer than Galaxy S25+ in this website's test with about the same battery capacity (difference between rated and typical capacity means they are about equal). And because of that, what Apple has certified as a 2800 mAh battery would be advertised by other phone brands as a 3000 mAh battery. And 3000 to 3900 is about a 30% difference as well. And also keep in mind, the iPhone will have a next-generation SoC with the latest node, and the C1 modem. At least from those predictions, it could go either way but I'd say the chances for the iPhone are pretty good to keep up and even beat the S25 Edge.

Anonymous, 23 May 2025I remember the hands-on where someone said this will have t... moreAll that is to say, the era of the huge brick phones is hopefully bound to be over. Battery life compared to device size took a step back when the bezels were eliminated in the late 2010s, so phones got thicker and heavier to achieve the same battery life in the same body size. After that, battery life got significantly better. However, a phone only has to last one single day on a charge of battery, when new probably like 1.3 days so that it's still 1 day after several years of degradation. Any more than that is useless bulk which is crucial to be eliminated on a handheld device. Improvements in battery density and component energy efficiency have led to vast improvements in battery life year over year, which most didn't even seem to notice, they probably forgot about their old phone's battery life. But at some point, the improvements have to go towards ergonomics when the battery life is good enough. Technological progress grows exponentially and we are far enough into the future that lightweight design and long enough battery life are not mutually exclusive, and it's only getting better from here on out. Many people here will still need time to realize it, but once they hold their 220g 8mm phone next to this in a store, they may finally realize why this is worth aiming for. And if they are old enough to remember the lighter thinner phones of the mid-2010s, they may also realize what has been missing in phones for so long. It's not foldables or other plastic screen gimmicks, it's good ergonomic design. It's 2010s form factors with multiple times the battery life because of technological advancements. Lightweight phones are the future.

The S25 Edge should be able run longer on a 3,900 mAh battery than the iPhone 17 Air 2,800mAh battery. At least Samsung had Apple beat on this one.

am not seeing the premium design in this, unless thinness at all costs is now considered beautiful like it's the early 90s again (hello heroin chic)

Performed well for its size tbh but I’m good with normal sized flagships, perfect for those that use phones for show off or ppl that just like it for its body. I think the main problems with modern phones is durability and camera bump

ThunderCrackR, 23 May 2025I want to see that genius who said it won't pass 10 ho... moreI remember the hands-on where someone said this will have to be charged 400 times until the review is finished. I know of at least one staff member on this website who is always joining in on Samsung/Apple/Google hate so if you went back to those articles you'd probably find a lot of statements which aged like milk as well. And of course there were dozens of other comments complaining about battery life already when not one test was done. And it's only a matter of days until JerryRigEverything does a bend test which this will also pass because as I said often enough before, bending is mostly about thow well a phone is designed and not about a single attribute like thickness, then the silence of the haters will speak much louder than their previous comments. And even further into the future, the last point of criticism will be price. Well guess what this is a new phone, always compared to the other Galaxy S25 which have been out for months and got many sales, as usual with Samsung. Right now, the cheapest price for S25 Edge is €1049, which is already €200 less than MSRP even though the phone is barely available. S25 Ultra is €869, S25+ is €749. Unless demand significantly outpaces supply, the S25 Edge will slot in nicely between the S25 Ultra and S25+ relative to the MSRP of those, which means it will be closer to the S25+ than the Ultra. Of course the other two will continue to drop in price as well. Thats why I'd say in 2-3 months, €719 for S25+, €759 for S25 Edge, €829 for S25 Ultra. And at that point, €40 more for a better main camera, titanium frame (if you're into that), slightly thinner bezels and a much thinner and lighter body make this very attractive to a lot of people as long as you don't need the slightly better battery life and heat dissipation, which honestly very few people do need or would even notice the difference if they are not tech savvy especially.

This is garbage, 3900 MAh battery, really, this is a wall outlet companion like Iphone. The cheapskates didn't even use Silicon Carbon battery like OnePlus to give it an actually useful battery backup. I remember having an ultra thin Samsung flagship, the S6 edge+ and despite reviews claiming great battery life it was garbage. Samsung knows how to over optimize for the test procedures of high profile reviewers on release date, real world will be trash as you would expect given the pitiful capacity of the cell and don't get me started on the price of this, you have to be some deranged lunatic to choose it over the OnePlus 13 or just about anything else.

ThunderCrackR, 23 May 2025I want to see that genius who said it won't pass 10 ho... moreAnd a 0.2 liter engine producing 40 horsepower is technologically impressive. Doesn't mean its appropriate to put it in a 400k $ Bentley.

According to Samsung's official site, it's the full 8 core Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Edge.

Still wild they got battery life similar to the Pixel 9 Pro XL with flagship specs (more power and a better main sensor, the same as the Ultra), in the thinnest and lightest 6.7" device while still using an older tech battery.

Hope they can still use that silicon-carbon tech next time.

The thermal camera is great addition!!!
And as expected, this phone is a furnace.
4.2 seems generous, but Samsung I guess...

This trick when the iPhone Slim comes out Samsung will sell it for 650 on special and they will sell out... Especially for Christmas 🥱🥱

In a proper OtterBox to beef it up it would still be nice and light and I think that's a plus. I think the powerful camera, 12gig 8 elite, and switch-up to ltpo Oled (finally losing that blue light syndrome), they are chipping into iPhone market with a small powerful device that could sell, depending on the price in each market.

I want to see that genius who said it won't pass 10 hours battery endurance, "at most 11". Well, it's over 12, which is very impressive from an under 4000mAh battery.

I thought they may of opted for the seven core variant of the 8 elite. Makes me glad I didn't wait and got myself a navy blue 25+ instead. But for all the (must have the new thing people enjoy).

They say that sales are not what they expected.

The S25 Edge main camera sensor is NOT a Samsung ISOCELL HP2, like the S25 Ultra; it's the Samsung ISOCELL HP5. Also, the sensor size of the S25 Edge is only 1/1.56" vs. the S25 Ultra's much larger 1/1.3". The 200MP camera on S25 Edge is nothing but hype and takes equivalent photos to the S25+. The Edge is ALL show and NO substance.

Testing app for battery endurance used by GSMArena is straight garbage. 7 hours of gaming?!
In which paralel world this would happen?

Bodygard, 23 May 20257.5h of gaming? Only if it does heavy throttling...so what ... moreModern soc even at 2W they will be considerably faster than your average midrange.

Geekerwan did test at 1.9W Dimensity 9400 scored 3000 geekbench score. So even if 8 elite throttle to 20 or 30% of power it will still be faster than many soc out there.
