"Second, the fingerprint sensor position all the way to the bottom of the screen is abysmal."
I love your choice of words. It's a pet hate of mine. Why do OEMs put them so low? Google and Samsung manage to position them sensibly on their flagships.

Instead of the elite chip they should have used an cheaper one and put a decent camera sensor for ultra wide to have a complete package, or 3x telephoto

I really appreciate the attention to detail you gave this phone - The way OnePlus is marketing this phone is a flagship is completely misleading and I'm very glad you noticed the small compromises they made. Little details like the corner radius of the display and thicker bottom bezel are minute things but the kind of things that really annoy me personally! Ever since Apple made it possible with the iPhone X, this quickly became an essential design feature for me on any phone and it drives me crazy that so many manufacturers don't pay attention to it when the technology has clearly caught up. Well done on a good review!

Ok, somebody want to explain the logic behind only releasing a 'compact' smartphone in markets where larger form factors are preferred? 🤔

apple has iphone pro for ages. it has no compromises despite the smaller form factor. why would they keep producing the smaller pro for so long unless they sell well? samsung had small flagships but, they are no longer on par with the pro iphone. they are just rebranding s22 every year. among so many android oems, pixel and xiaomi released the only iphone pro competitors. we need more and more of these.

The thermals are impressive, though I'd love to see them fix that clock stepping, which is bound to create a whole lot of stutter when games demand more empower than the s8e can provide

I was hoping to get the battery test details so that I could compare with Xiaomi 15.

Excellent article. And thanks for highlighting the software and build quality issues.
But you didn't mention the number of software updates OnePlus will be providing for this phone. Also you guys should do your standardized battery life test on this one.

Why no score rating? This seems a full review rather than a hands on.
