This phone is a great sleek looking phone,it has a great battery life and is good for general phone & text,it's housing is brilliant and it feels great in your hand,I own one and love it I was originally after the gold arte but could only find one with the white leather patches not the full gold version,so I went with this one and I'm very happy with it,I just sold my iPhone 4s and put a pre order for iphone5 so I have best of both worlds this great Nokia for calls & text & the iPhone for apps,email,games,music etc...

If you have a good phone like this (8800 carbon arte) you should have a good and exclusive number (gold #).
Sometimes gold number cost more than 8800 carbon, or gold arte.
I use the phone that cost less than 150$, but my number cost about 1350$,.:)So it's just show your surrounding that you are a elite pErson using the 8800 arte or vertu.
You can change the phone form time to time but the "number", some person use it for life.
My advice is to have an excusive number before you can get the luxury phone.
thanks

I had the 8800 for 2 years and loved it apart from the awful battery life, so if Nokia improved that, Id buy one without a doubt. I certainly dont want to use my mobile to browse the net, to listen to music or to take amazing pics, thats what you have your ipod and camera etc for.. I just want it to be reliable for phone calls and text messages, thats all - but the battery life is crucial for that, so if it comes with a good battery then I can recommend it to anyone.

This phone is not for the ordinary user. This phone is for the elite class..
Get it? Only the elite can afford these types of phones. If you cannot afford it, then you are not the 'Elite' type of person.
Get over it.

haha none of the actual customers of this phone would read an article or a review... most of them use the green and red buttons and dont care about the useless technology today's phones are packed with... i don't know a single person that is using the GPS... or video recorder... or radio on their phone... and many of my friends own N96s, N95s, Black Bery bold and so on

this price in my country (malaysia) can buy u one motorcycle..mybe it's a great touch of artistic but it still not the best thing ever 2 show off..even omnia is half the price of this what-so-called-carbon thing..but...each person have their own opinion rite? if they say it's cool and a must-buy gadget, so it's up 2 them..^^
difference in malaysia :
1 us dollar = RM 3.600
carbon arte's price = RM 6000++
sony ericsson c902 = RM 2000++
nokia 6210 navigator = RM 1500++
motorcycle..simple good one = RM 5000++

'Carbon copy' is about right...these designs are so boring now...I wouldn't buy one even if it was at a low price.

Nokia Arte:
Is the man who sits down with his universal remote, and turns on his 70" Plasma TV imported from Japan, and flicks over to see how his stocks are going while he drinks a glass of his near priceless brandy.
Samsung INNOV8: Is the guy with his fotty shorts on watching the local footy on the tune.
Notice the massive difference?

This phone is for people who know quality and style...they aren't the sorts of people who play games, drink virtual beer or worry about taking crappy photo's. The people who buy this will have a DSLR camera, a 5K Home Hifi System and a Sports Car - they don't need YouTube on the go nor low quality pictures and music.
This is for making calls, sending the odd text, keeping up-to-date with your business/social diary and general just having the coolest mobile in the market - even the Vertu's don't really look the part compared to these (sure they are made of higher quality materials, but operating them is a nasty experience!)
Can't wait...

Zobi, 29 Sep 2008Maybe is cheaper if you buy with two year contract...As a matter of fact, in my country, is not usual to buy phones in a contract. And this phone will only be available in the sim-free version and in selected stores (Nokia official stores), as usual for the Arte Series. I'm turning my attention to a Samsung Innov8 instead, altough I don't like Samsung in the same way I love Nokia and some other brands (like the old Siemens). But 8MP and wi-fi really make me change my ideas...
I have it in the store I work, and the only disadvantage is really the tremendous height of the phone. Again, sorry for the even worst english, but I really don't know how to speak it well.

How is carbon fibre exclusive? I bought a bike recently which is all carbon fibre in the non-moving parts (frame, forks) and it cost a fraction of this phone yet has about 100x as much carbon fibre (it also has a very expensive set of moving parts - Shimano Ultegra). Only plonkers would buy this phone given it's awful specs.

i think its price is a bit too much for its features ,especially the camera ,the memory and the screen size...i wouldn't buy it even if i was a trillionair,the cover is excellent though.
