The cover screen is overkill. There's a reason its not a full-fat phone screen sized.
I'll take the Flip 6.

And I now see my comment said CPU while I me... moreLike others, I thought you were talking about the Edge, but for G7 they did mention the drawback of throttling in the same place as this review... in the verdict, they even gave the Razr+ a little too much credit of an excuse by saying it was a 'powerful chipset' which is a bit of an exaggeration as previously mentioned.

Anonymous, 20 Jun 2025Ironical how they recently review a regular slab phone that... more34% throttling on last year's mid-level chip IS a Significant drawback for a $1,000 phone today. It needs to manage much less performance and still struggles. It gets handily beaten by the Flip 5 let alone Flip 6 in that benchmark to start with, so what are their respective performance drops over time regardless of percentage (older reviews don't use Extreme so can't compare)?🤔
Disappointing for a $1k phone whose current performance is mediocre at best, let alone stressed, that won't age well with Android & AI updates on older architecture too. 🤨
It's important for 2 reasons, first you're already starting at 50% performance disadvantage to any SD 8 Elite and then taking away 34% on-top of that makes it's performance about 33% of an SD 8E or around value level performance for premium price. Second this is an issue for Moto where the 60 Ultra couldn't finish the Wild Life Extreme test despite starting out with performance well below other SD 8 Elite chips, so cooling vs throttling is not their forté. 🧐
Either buy last year's Razr+ or splurge for the Ultra, this is just for posers until price is throttled significantly like performance.
Not hating on Moto, Samsung will have the same challenge with the F7 FE, where the Flip 6 might be attractive to both of this years buyer segment especially if the full F7 is also Exynos making matters much worse. The 60 Ultra might overheat but it was a big jump in performance vs 50 Ultra so easy to defend, but if the Flip 7 underperforms and brings no improvements it's a bigger miss and the 7 FE won't help justify missing the mark for a mild discount.

Anonymous, 21 Jun 2025Finally a phone with a small screen 4 inch isnt bad like fi... moreDepends, I have smaller hands and using the outer screen of my Razr 50 wasn't a fun experience when typing (anything else was fine)
While typing on a 4" android/ios device 15 years ago was totally fine for me, heck even Unihertz Jelly Star gave me a fine typing experience compared to the Moto.
Reason is that not every 4" is same, the formfactor is the reason I don't like to type on such device, while on a regular phone it is 100% fine.

yjfoeg, 21 Jun 2025Using 8s Gen 3 in 2025 is quite hilariousNah
They could use a top end Mediatek, or better SD Elite and make the poor device throttle like there is no end to it.
Nothing wrong with 8s Gen 3
However I do think the price should be lower, Flip 7 will be around same price (before the inevitable price drop like usual) with better specs and 7 years of OS updates.
I like Motorola more than Samsung, but the only saving grail of Moto flip is the outer screen.
Samsung wins for the rest.

I'm glad it has 45W charging. Still soooo much better than literally caveman 25W speeds.

The two main criticisms of Motorola's phones have typically been slow (or missing) updates and poor camera output. It seems that Moto has put more effort into camera processing, as the shots taken with recent phones (such as this one and the Edge 60 Pro) are excellent.

Ironical how they recently review a regular slab phone that throttled more than this one (34% on cpu) and never mentioned throttling in the cons.
But they do with this one.
