guess new chipset didnt help Pixel. battery life disqualifies that phone, period.

It's like a phone made by third-graders in a labor class and released on the market without testing its capabilities.

With Google , Sony , Apple and Samsung you sure do pay for the name.

Was really hoping there'd be a review of the modem, seeing that it's problematic on other models.

I did notice, however, that in all of the photos it appears your test model was in airplane mode.

The functionality of the modem seems fundamental.

          Cheers!

As always with these kind of tests, I'd recommend thinking about what your own usage looks like. On battery life I'm consistently getting 2 days use, finishing day 2 with ~20%. Performance-wise it's been completely fine in normal use, but I'm not doing much gaming. Also not had any overheating issues that others have mentioned, even while charging.

And that's when you see the gap between the 2, exynos 2400 was slightly worse than 8 gen 3 but tensor G4 was worse than 8 gen 2.

Google's chip design team sucks, that's why even TSMC can't save them.

                  Their GPU is entry level.

Battery replaced. display was ok.. But after a month it broke too. Probably micro damage. Now she has a pixel 8a. And I have a pixel 8. I'm scared.. I have a lot of old mobiles and they all have batteries after years without optical defects.

Kudos to Xiaomi, who did they emulate?
                      Qualcomm / Mediatek 8-core 3nm?
No! They emulated Samsung because 10 cores open up more possible configurations than 8-core SoCs releases/released.

One 10-core SoC and Xiaomi stuns the world

Google and Samsung split Google despite almost every 8-core configuration being tried it abandons the new huge untapped potential of 9 cores to repeat history new faster cortices same 8-core architecture. Despite TSMC fab Tensor G5 3nm is a poor SoC, marginally better than the September Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4nm)

Is it me seeing this the Tensor G5 8 core is a "cut down" version of Samsung's Exynos 2500?
10 core. There doesn't appear to be a 1+5+2 configuration used prior by any /all chip makers

And who is going to be optimizing for such a niche GPU architecture? I hope this is a driver issue, because I don't expect any third party to spend much time on it.

The Tensor G5 was supposed to be the all singing, all dancing saviour for Pixels. Instead, it's the opposite with naff performance and naffer battery life. I don't know what to upgrade my Pixel 8 Pro to now.

How can a juggernaut like Google screw this up so badly? I loath conspiracy theories but I'm beginning to think they do it on purpose so as not to kill off Samsung, Xiaomi, Nothing, Motorola and other Android-running platforms.

What tf is Google doing? Pixel phones got worse with each generation. Aside from the clean Android experience, it's getting harder to justify buying a Pixel.

shameful sustained performance (and regular performance), terrible battery life numbers, but at least the charging speeds are slightly better.

this is obviously still terrible though.

""We'll insist that the Pixel experience is more than the phone's formal results""

As Pixel user I can say that that "Pixel experience" contain:
-Holding a toster after 2min of recording video that you cant even see as phone lower brightness to 10% after just one minute.
-The same goes for watching higher res video, oven in hand and 10% brightness.
-Struggling with any 3D game after 10min
-Trying to use 5G mean oven in hand and battery life drop to the floor.
-Annoying animations lags if you trying to use few heavier apps and jump between them.
-Overall battery life of Apple Watch.
-RAM filled with useless google services and apps that start them self even if you force close them(one that you cant turn off)
-That amazing AI performance boost being nothing more than empty numbers and names as in real life gemini struggle with even simple task and take ages to respond(not related to network)
-Battery and performances drop visibly if you have any apps in the background that use heavy network(eg, updating, syncing files or downloading anything )
-Oh and did I mentioned that its oven?

                                  🤣

Some people went running buying the Pixel 10 because of the software features and AI, forgetting that a lot of those features don't work in their countries, nor their languages haha
How are they gonna be big by selling smartphones? Unless they don't want it....

Pixel 10 series should NOT have been released! Lousy battery life, crappy SoC, sub par camera performance, design is also weird!

They're really phoning it in. Investing the absolute minimum (if that). Does google even make money off of Pixel sales?

Starting to wonder if they are just platforms for easy data collection
